Not a new lens as stated. Broken components in accessories.

CovertLeopard, Amazon
17 March 2015
  • Summary: The lens is fantastic, takes brilliant photos. Brand new lenses would have a factory seal on a nice box. Used lenses are in a scuffed box that has no seal and that's what I received. Also, the tripod in the starter kit was broken and the broken piece was nowhere to be found.

Poor quality

Patrick, B&H Photo
5 January 2015
  • Excerpt: I think that the BEST use for this lens is to leave it in your gear bag!!!! VERY poorly made. This does NOT mount smoothly on my Nikon Camera and the focus is NOT sharp - as one would expect from Nikon. It IS inexpensive - but save your $+ and get a better lens.NOT happy with it at all.
  • Pros: Lightweight
  • Cons: Difficult To Use, Not Durable, Not Functional, Poor Design

  • Excerpt: This lens arrived in perfect condition. It is a sturdy lens, that attaches easily. The picture quality was terrific for the first few sessions. Then, the lens started to have focusing issues. It is currently not unusable after 5 months (aprox 10 sessions).
  • Pros: Easily Interchangeable, Lightweight, Rugged
  • Cons: Blurry Focus, Slow Focus

Huge Disappointment - Unbelievably Bad

Ted Clutter, B&H Photo
1 August 2011
  • Excerpt: I am a professional photographer and have used Nikon lenses for decades. Lens construction is great. But this is the worst lens I have ever experienced. Actually blurry at 1.8, improved by 2.8 to poor. Even at f/8, my prosumer zooms beat it by a mile. And I am only talking about center sharpness.
  • Pros: Strong Construction
  • Cons: Blurry Focus, Nikon's worst lens

Worst packaging ever.

Dave, Crutchfield
10 July 2011
  • Summary: This Nikon lens is truly a high resolution lens especially when used at f5.6, f8, and f11. As the reviews state this may be the first real resolution upgrade in the last 40 years. Probably because of the high resolution digital sensors now used in dslr's forced Nikon to improve their products.

abdul, Amazon
29 December 2011
  • Summary: Thought I'd receive the order and will have fun, but ended up blocking money on this order, as the box received was of manual focus. Was so confused that I thought there is an error on the website or I missed the item details on the webpage. Damn!
