The greatness doesn't last....

Excerpt: This lens arrived in perfect condition. It is a sturdy lens, that attaches easily. The picture quality was terrific for the first few sessions. Then, the lens started to have focusing issues. It is currently not unusable after 5 months (aprox 10 sessions). It cannot focus on more then one face at a time in either manual or automatic. It consistently back focuses.
Excerpt: I am a professional photographer and have used Nikon lenses for decades. Lens construction is great. But this is the worst lens I have ever experienced. Actually blurry at 1.8, improved by 2.8 to poor. Even at f/8, my prosumer zooms beat it by a mile. And I am only talking about center sharpness. I either got an extremely bad copy of folks who rate this lens highly are dillusional.
Summary: This Nikon lens is truly a high resolution lens especially when used at f5.6, f8, and f11. As the reviews state this may be the first real resolution upgrade in the last 40 years. Probably because of the high resolution digital sensors now used in dslr's forced Nikon to improve their products.
Summary: Extremely unhappy with this Nikon lens. Though it performs well good in most cases, when you take take pic of an object against bright light, there is horrible amount of purple fringing which is maximum and f1.8 and present right upto f11. Dont know whether this is an limitation or fault with my piece, it is pretty annoying when you take pics in broad day light.
No point of buying this lens when u can get the same at 6k

Summary: Nikon has another 50 mm 1.8 lens which comes at~5.5k or somthig..But unfortunately that lens don't get auto focused with ur entry level d3100/3000/5000...so if u want a nifty fifty lens wid AF u need to pay ~8k more wid this item. But problem remains the same, for any other nikon AF lens ur unexpensive dslr has to use manual focus....better selloff ur DX body get a higher end body that has inbuilt AF motor with the body, and save ur hard earned money!.
