Nifty Fifty!

Ben, Amazon
2 January 2014
  • Summary: What can I say it's a 50mm Lens! All of the same lens elements except it's got a shiny new retro inspired exterior that I'm a sucker for so if you are too you should just buy it! if not get the non special edition version.

Normal FX lens

  • Excerpt: It's bulky version of the great manual 50mm by Nikon. The autofocus adds bulk but plastic keeps the weight down.
  • Pros: Easy To Use, Lightweight
  • Cons: Bulky

Great Images

JRDPHOTOG, Nikon
31 December 2013
  • Summary: I opened the box and was surprised to find this very light lens within. The reason it was purchased was because I needed to have a fast 50mm because most of my work is with available light. I could not believe the sharpness and image quality from this lens...and the price!

Fast, Light, and Great IQ

Mark T., B&H Photo
27 December 2013
  • Excerpt: This was my first lens purchase after getting my D5100 with the 18-55 kit. I still use the kit lens but this lens stays on my camera most of the time and I just love it. It focuses quickly and accurately and most importantly produces really great images. Only knock I would give it would be the focus ring could feel a little smoother but other than that it is a really great lens.
  • Pros: Durable, Easy To Use, Lightweight, Reliable

Tack sharp, great price

  • Excerpt: Did a lot of research on this vs the 1.4g model. If you are stopping down to the sharpest it seems like f2 is the sweet spot for both. So saving a couple bucks is a no brainer. Also, we are using this for portrait work, not landscape so outer edge sharpness wasn't a main concern. For what it's worth.
