Great lens for almost any light.

  • Excerpt: I bought this lens ten days ago (this is my first 50mm lens) and so far, I am absolutely amazed at the clarity and depth of the pictures taken. This is great in any light but exceptionally good in low light. The autofocus is so quiet that you can hardly hear it.
  • Pros: Easy To Use, Lightweight, Reliable, Very Quiet
  • Cons: Cannot Think One So Far

A Great Nifty Fifty!

Rick the Railfan, B&H Photo
29 December 2014
  • Excerpt: Let me start by giving some background - I'm not a professional picture taker and this is used on my first SLR of any kind; I've been using P&S cameras for ages and getting good pictures by luck and the smarts of the camera. That being said, using this lens is a dream - point, shoot, chimp.

Superb Replacement of the KIT lens

Anonymous, Newegg
28 December 2014
  • Summary: KIT lenses do not do the cameras that they come with justice. This is the equivalent of 75mm on a crop sensor if you aren't using a full frame camera. Fantastic for indoor shots/portraits of any kind.
  • Pros: Fast auto focusing Excellent Bokeh Fantastic Image Quality, much better than KIT lens Great low light performance coupled with current generation Nikon cameras.
  • Cons: Twice the price of the equivalent Canon model. But I chose a Nikon camera for a reason, so that's ok.
