Excerpt: this lens is everything you heard about it. sharp and contrasty at all aperatures, even wide open. light weight, fast and silent focus, low price. dont hesitate to pick one up, its a real bargain.
Excerpt: I bought this lens ten days ago (this is my first 50mm lens) and so far, I am absolutely amazed at the clarity and depth of the pictures taken. This is great in any light but exceptionally good in low light. The autofocus is so quiet that you can hardly hear it.
Pros: Easy To Use, Lightweight, Reliable, Very Quiet
Summary: Just received for a Chritmas gift and have been playing with it. This lens is everthing everyone has said about it...great bokeh and a great portrsit lens. You cant go wrong with a nifty fifty!
Excerpt: Let me start by giving some background - I'm not a professional picture taker and this is used on my first SLR of any kind; I've been using P&S cameras for ages and getting good pictures by luck and the smarts of the camera. That being said, using this lens is a dream - point, shoot, chimp.
Summary: KIT lenses do not do the cameras that they come with justice. This is the equivalent of 75mm on a crop sensor if you aren't using a full frame camera. Fantastic for indoor shots/portraits of any kind.
Pros: Fast auto focusing Excellent Bokeh Fantastic Image Quality, much better than KIT lens Great low light performance coupled with current generation Nikon cameras.
Cons: Twice the price of the equivalent Canon model. But I chose a Nikon camera for a reason, so that's ok.
