Amazing Lens

Sam939, B&H Photo
17 March 2014
  • Excerpt: I bought Nikon D5100 camera with a standard 18-55 lens about 6 months back for an everyday use. After reading all reviews, I decided to give this lens a try. Within just few shots I realized this was the gem. If you would like to take pics that appears as if they were taken by a pro, try this lens. I would very highly recommend this lens.
  • Pros: Background Blur, Brightness, Crisp Images, Low Light Pics
  • Cons: Moving Objects

Simply a brilliant piece of glass

Darren G Castellano, Amazon
15 March 2014
  • Summary: I can't convey just how efficient this lens is. This lens is very fast on the focus and tact sharp ! It's become my favorite walk around lens because of its dependability ! No matter what lighting situation I find myself in ,it performs like a champ . I know the f 1.4 is supposedly the best and I've used one a couple of times and would agree its magnificent , but I'd be hard pressed as a bonified perfectionist to tell any difference in the results I'm getting while using...

Great great lens

  • Excerpt: This is a basic prime lens (meanining it has no zoom built in) that is extremely sharp and the high apperture captures very lively photos. My son's images have gotten a new lease of life since I've used this lens. There's no vignetting (darker corners) or any fish eyeing (curved areas of the image on the sides). This is a lens in the old days the master photographers used the most to great advantages. Obviously the technology has evolved, but the 50mm remains a classic.
  • Pros: Durable, Easy To Use, Lightweight, Reliable, Sharp Crisp Clear Photos
  • Cons: F14 Would Be Even Better

Great lens!

11 March 2014
  • Excerpt: I held off on buying this lens, sticking with my 50 1.8D. But I got tired of that lens' inconsistent focusing, and decided to try it. My first assignment, in a badly lit high school gym shooting basketball, this lens came up aces. Fast focusing (on a D300) and great image quality. Can't wait to try this on an FX camera. It's not as rugged as the older Nikkor lenses, but overall, this is a quality, affordable lens made for available light shooting on a budget.
  • Pros: Lightweight
  • Cons: Non-standard Filter Size

  • Excerpt: I needed a really good prime lens to round out my collection. I have purchased "used" equipment from Adorama before and I have never been disappointed. This lens and others have arrived in like new condition with no discernable flaws for which I am grateful.
  • Pros: Easy To Use, Lightweight, Reliable

  • Excerpt: This lens is without a doubt remarkable. I've had this lens for a while now and decided to use it this weekend and boy did it perform well. Beautiful colors and excellent bokeh. I'm very proud of the least expensive lens in my bag.
