Excerpt: Just got this lens....brand new. First, I have a very hard time putting it on, and taking it off my camera. I feel as though I will break either my camera or the lens. Second, it will not focus at all. When I look through my viewfinder it's a blurred mess. Third, I believe the focus ring is messed up. It seems like a cheap plastic mess. I will try one more time, but It will probably be going back. My Canon has a great 50mm 1.8. No problems with it at all.
Excerpt: This is a great, lightweight and fast lens. i love it for low light situations and takes me back 35 years when I started with a SLR 35mm camera + 50 mm lens combo. The lens is sharp and has a good bokeh. True, the build does not feel as solid as some years ago... that gives you the light weight though.
Summary: excellent lens for the price. though the extra lens hood is redundant, its nice to have an extra(one comes with the original lens). quality of pics is excellent, however, the best use is on manual focus as the lens seems to run slightly off focus in low lighting shots (or it just might be the way the nikon auto focusing works).
But otherwise I really like how clear the images turn out

Summary: I bought this for my Nikon 7000. The items came very quickly! It seems that the lens' autofocus feature doesn't always do what it's supposed to do. But otherwise I really like how clear the images turn out. I have to play with it around some more.
Excerpt: I wanted a small, light lens for my Nikon D610 for general purpose, walk around, especially people shots. Too, nearly all my other lenses are zooms and I wanted a prime. Although I have done no in-depth analysis of photos through this lens, nor detailed comparisons to others--and don't intend to--I am pleased with the lens and the results over the past few weeks. After all, isn't that what it's all about.
Excerpt: Prime is definitely the way to go for lenses, you get more control over DOF and better image quality from them. This lens does just that, the autofocus is quiet and fairly quick. It does stall or miss its mark on occasion but that's just more motivation to shoot on manual focus. An FX mount lens this will work on full frame Nikon cameras such as the D800 without cropping or on smaller frame Nikon cameras just as well.
