No brainer

  • Excerpt: Best 1.8 you can buy for the price. Using this with my cropped sensor turns it into a 75mm portrait lens. Pretty fast focus. Quality bokeh. Actually fools you into thinking you might be a good photographer! But seriously, it's a Prime lenses that forces you to start framing correctly. Just buy it.

50mm 1.8G Can't enjoy enough !

  • Excerpt: NIKON -thank you very much for 35,50 and 85mm 1.8G. Finally I bought 50mm. Now I am done with lenses for a long time because I don't think that there is anything better than these three. Combination of quality, size, weight and price-nothing is better. Of course you can get 24-70 or 70-200. But it will cost you thousands, they are huge and heavy. I can't imagine being on vacation in Europe and walking around with 70-200 2.8. I would worry-lens cost as much as vacation.

AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.8G

  • Excerpt: Excellent definiton, sharpness and virtually no chromatic aberration. Like a short telephoto in my DX camera. Perhaps too light weight to inspire confidence or trust it will last. I have an old Nikkor AF 24 mm, 2.8 AF that is 35 years old that works and looks like new...

Just great!

  • Excerpt: I have both this lens and the older 50mm 1.8D. I own both versions because I own two D7000's that I use for video and photography. This review will be like a comparison between the two. I'm basically just stating my personal opinions and observations. This G lens is better suited for photography. It produces slightly smoother bokeh but much nicer and rounder bokeh balls when compared to the older D version.

Great value for the price

  • Excerpt: I'm using this lens to take multiple image panoramas on a D800E. It has excellent sharpness and contrast and very little distortion for a lens in this price range. Also nice that its so small and light. Seemed a little tight going on the camera but this is better than being loose and will probably improve with use.
  • Pros: Easy To Use, Good contrast, Lightweight, Low distortion, Sharp

  • Excerpt: This is a good lens to add to your lineup. Very sharp! Especially for the price. I use this as my "walk-around" lens since it's so light. Also the 1.8 allows for great low light performance.
  • Pros: Durable, Easy To Use, Lightweight, Reliable

13 April 2014
  • Summary: I do a lot of cooking, BBQ to be specific. I like to take pics of the food and this little lens just loves to take food pictures. It is a fixed lens (prime), so there is no zoom on this little guy. YOU are the zoom. Nice close ups can be achieved and the bokeh is impressive. Makes good pictures GREAT pictures. Well worth the money.
