Summary: I finally got to test this lens today and am pleasantly surprised. This lens is sharp and has decent depth. Color contrast and micro contrast also good. This lens is sharp wide open and fully zoomed. I definitely recommend this lens as an all around and portrait lens.

Summary: I originally purchased this lens as part of a D600 kit to replace my aging D200 with the old 24-120mm VR lens. I wanted to get the camera with the newer 24-120mm f/4 lens, but unfortunately it was not available at that particular store so I went with the kit.

Excerpt: There's just something about this lens I really like. The best way I can put it is that it's "enough" for many types of photography. Compared to the pricey Nikon f/2.8 pro lenses, all of which I've owned or used, it's sharp enough, focuses quickly enough, and is much smaller and lighter.
Excerpt: great for out door functions - parties or weddings not so great for low light indoor settings love to be able to quickly go from wide angle to zoom. perfect for me and my family type photo shoots.
Pros: Consistent Output, Durable, Easily Interchangeable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight
