Excerpt: I am a retired part-time professional. As I've gotten older, I've found it difficult to lug around heavy pro-grade lenses. I've found some consumer-grade lenses are very nearly equal to the pro lenses and perform very we'll when treated with reasonable care.

I received this lens in a D600 package deal, and, I thought I would sell it, since I already had a Nikon 24-70 f2.8. I tested it carefully against my pro lenses and was surprised how good it was.
Pros: Compact, Consistent Output, Excellent resolution, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight
Excerpt: Just receiver this lens , this is my first short telephoto I have a Nikon 28 to 300 and I love that one. I have only shot a couple of pictures with the new one but so far the pictures are sharp and crisp. This might be the top oh the Nikon lenses but all the reviews were great and I also have to say for the cost I do 't you can go wrong. B and.
Excerpt: Nice size/weight with a wide range of focal lengths. I've been using a 24-120 lens which has been somewhat heavy to use although it produces excellent quality photos. Looking forward to using this smaller/lighter version although I gave up some focal length. Test pictures look great.
Excerpt: I have been using 18 -70 mm f 3.5 4.5 which came as kit lens with old D70. I kept on using it since it was a very good lens till recently when I upgraded to 24-85 mm with vr. I was amazed at the sharpness n vr of the lens. There was such huge improvement compared to my old lens. Vr also open possibility of shooting at low shutter speed. Excellent buy.
Excerpt: This lens may not be single aperture throughout the range but it is an excellent zoom for the money. I am much more apt to walk around with this than a large heavy 2.8 zoom. What's the best lens? The one you have on your camera and actually use.
Pros: Consistent Output, Durable, Easily Interchangeable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight, Strong Construction
Excerpt: First copy of this lens I received was back-focusing, but B&H customer service was great on making an exchange. The new lens is focusing properly and is sharp, sharp, sharp. I bought this lens with an eye towards moving up to an FX camera at some point, but in the interim it's a good match with my D3200. It's a decent upgrade from the 18-55 that came with the camera. It could be a little better in low light, overall I'm very happy with it.
Pros: Consistent Output, Fast / accurate auto-focus
Summary: I bought this lens, refurbished, to use with my new D610 as a general walk around lens. I have had it less than a month, but am very impressed with the sharpness and focusing speed. 24-85mm is the perfect range for street photography, candid portraits, and basic landscapes. I would recommend this lens for any photographer looking for a budget friendly walk around lens.
