Loved it at first...

heart13, Amazon
27 December 2013
  • Summary: But after a 1 1/2 years of ownership it developed an odd clicking delay that interfered with taking pictures. Of course I had too much confidence when I purchased it to register it with Nikon and now I'm out of luck. Make sure to register your purchases with the company so that you can get replacement without frustration and disappointment...

Meh....

zaskarmark, Amazon
30 November 2013
  • Summary: This lens is...O.K. A bit soft at full range for my liking. A bit slower than I'm used to. Good for general shooting, but requires a tripod for anything over 150mm. I've seen this lens for half of what I paid for it all over the web. Worth $250, not $500.

Nikon 70-300 Zoom

cahill, Nebraska Furniture Mart
30 August 2013
  • Excerpt: This lens has not preformed well since it's purchase. After two returns, the first issue with focus was resolved. However, recently a new issue has appeared. This problem is once again with the focus. When focusing lens has a stutter in it's focus movement. Don't know about others, but would not purchase this lens again. May have purchased a lemon!!!

Nice lense, but a little slow autofocus

Bratnikotin, B&H Photo
24 April 2013
  • Excerpt: This lens if great. It is sharp and clear. However, to my mind its autofocus is somewhat slow. Not that it matters too much for the zoom lense, but if it was faster it would have been a jam. The way it is, makes it no different from the equivalent from Sigma and Tamron, which are significantly cheaper.
  • Pros: Easy To Use, Reliable

Meh, a bit disappointing

PhotoHappy, B&H Photo
24 June 2012
  • Excerpt: After a week trying out this lens I'm a bit disappointed. I thought I did my homework before ordering it, but apparently not. Of course, now I find a review site that explains why I'm not thrilled. Basically, it's a well built lens that is sharp up to 200mm but anything beyond that you have stop down to 8 or 11 and still not get sharp pictures. So, what's the point of having a 300mm lens if it's not sharp past 200mm?

Okay, don't like in even medium light

Fivefoot1, B&H Photo
5 June 2012
  • Excerpt: The clarity is great in good light, but don't try to use in low to medium light, it just wont' work. Even though I know it is 5.6, it will not auto focus in what I would consider medium light. I am sending it back, and will order a Sigma lens.
  • Pros: Compact Design
  • Cons: No Increase In Performance
