Summary: This is a decent lens that does exactly what I got it for. Since going digital I have been satisfied with the good quality of the kit lenses, and the results are basically acceptable, but I realized zooming all the time had spoiled me. "Wearing" this normal prime has returned a sense of involvement in scenes, particularly with people. I had become lazy in my shooting. Candids have their place, but nothing beats confrontation with my subjects.
Summary: This lens is quick and fast when it comes to auto focusing, it has a good depth of field when it comes to low f-stops. Good Bokeh, but sometimes the bokeh is too unclear. Nice weight and size for on the go!
Summary: A week after buying this 35mm 1.8, Nikon released the 40mm DX Micro. The next purchase on my list was a Macro lens, and I could have gotten one to save money. That being said, the f1.8 on this lens earns itself a high place on my list. I currently have the 50mm 1.8 and kit lens 18-55mm as well. This has become my default lens and people always ask me what lens I'm using now that I own this when they see my pictures. It is very sharp. It has a great depth of field.
