Good kit lens

Summary: I got this lens as part of my D70 kit in 2005. It is a very good kit lens and a great lens to learn on. This lens will take any photographer a long way. Just note that in poor lighting conditions a flash will be necessary. I am debating replacing this lens with a 17-35mm f2.8.
Summary: This is a better than average lens. After using my new 70-300mmVR lens I will by purchasing this lens as a VR model. Nikon should add a macro capability to it. It takes very sharp pictures and I would recommend it in the below $600.00 lens category. Rene`
Summary: I am a novice photographer, and I think this lens is great for my learning purposes. It was recommended to me by a professional. I have no regrets starting off with this lens, it gets the job done, plus you simply just cant go wrong with Nikon.
Summary: Very sweet lens. OK, it could do with other 30mm zoom, but I would rather have a f3.5 with no VR than a 4.5 with VR. Money well spent. Mine works perfectly and was the cheapest I have seen them. They must be the biggest Nikon lens bargain. Get the 50mm f1.8 as well. Knocks spots off the 18-55.
Summary: fantastik lens, very sharp, very vivid color, fast focus, great build (with the metal ring mount) light for walk around. was choosing between 16-85mm and 18-200mm when wanting to replace my old 18-105mm that broke, and for the money, this was the best lens.
Summary: This is a very misunderstood lens. I think that because it used to come as a kit lens, people assume it's going to be basically a glorified end cap. This is to do this product a major injustice. The 18-70 range is just ideal for 90% of what I do with it.
