Summary: This could become my favorite lens! It focuses fairly quickly, zooms smoothly, and seems very sharp even compared to good quality prime lenses. The VR works well, as on any Nikon VR lens. Also typical of Nikon VR there is an audible click when the VR starts (half press of shutter release) and when it turns off (a second or two after releasing the shutter).
One of Nikon's best all around lenses, convenient and versatile.

Summary: There have been many reviews on this lens, many written by pros, amateurs, and novices. I consider myself an advanced amateur. With that said this is a perfect lens for me as I can use it as a "universal" walk around lens for almost every occasion. 18 - 200mm gives one a great deal of latitude. Does it perform as well as a prime lens? No, of course not. But I am willing to trade off a little performance for convenience. Picture quality is very acceptable.
Summary: I changed my 18-105 lense into this one. It's an ideal lense to shoot different things without changing the lense. The size and weight are just ok for D7000, while the 18-300 lense is extremely big, heavy and expensive. Now I only use this one and the 35 1.8G to shoot almost everything. However, you need to do some work on photoshop to deal with the distortion.
Summary: I planned on using this product to shoot weddings but I have not learned to trust this lens yet. It does not always communicate with my Nikon D80. It often causes a computer reading problem in the camera and I have to take the lens off and put it back on again to get it to communicate with the camera. It doew not always want to focus on auto fucus. With this problem I just have to turn the camera off and then on again.
Summary: The Nikon 18-200mm is a big range for a lens. Ordered this lens because my employer would only allow for one lens, so in order to cover all bases this seemed to be the best over all. From 18-70mm, the lens is sharp. The sharpness really starts falling off from 135-200mm. For the price and the reason for purchasing, this lens overall is a good lens.
Summary: I have been using this lens for almost a year, I am glad to say that I am quite happy about the results. It is equivalent of 27-300mm in Dx format Slr's. The lens you choose should help you to take every photo you intend to, that is how I look to the situation. I am doing landscape photographies and using such a lense allows me to switch my focal lenght easily. Like I said I am using this lens for %90 of what I shoot.
An excellent all-in-one lightweight walk-around, street, and travel lens.

Summary: A great walk-around lens. The range is handy for street photographs. The very light-weight is great to save the neck when taking general walks. This lens is a keeper for all the times in between when a specialized lens is called for. Some lenses like my 70-200 have a special magic, but this lightweight lens also makes it fun to walk around and have the range with you when you need it where you need it in a pinch.
Summary: I chose the 18-200mm F/3.5-5.6 Nikkor as a general purpose, walk around lens to cover most day to day photos. In this respect, it is one of the better general purpose lenses available due to the 11x zoom range and Nikon's VR image stabilization. Size and weight should be reasonable for anyone who isn't used to keeping a basic prime lens or an inexpensively manufactured kit lens on their camera at all times.
