Excerpt: I purchased this lens to replace an old Nikon zoom lens with macro capability that I used on a film Nikon. This lens is lighter and much easier to use. While it does not zoom, I have other zoom lenses. The focal length makes it useful to double as a standard lens. It has a large enough aperture to also use for portraits. I have only taken a few pictures so far but it appears to be working as advertised.
Summary: im so happy i brought this lens my kit lens where my face blurry so i had to get another lens i still need a good zoom lens but the bokeh the prestine look of the shot i am able to get now will help. no i get to focus on developing my photographic skills. i wish it had a lower f-stop but it dones not stop me from doing what i need to do.
Excerpt: I bought this lens primarily for macro work but I have found that it works great as a general purpose lens as well. I originally thought that without VR there might be problems but I have not run into any blur problems yet. The images are very clear and sharp and for the relatively low cost I am quite pleased. I do not have any real complaints yet except that the lens shroud could fit a bit tighter.
Pros: Consistent Output, Easily Interchangeable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight, Nice Bokeh
Excerpt: I bought this lens for my wife as an early Christmas present, as the Sigma EX Macro would not work with her Nikon D3100. Though her camera is outdated, this lens is not. Its built-in motor makes it work for almost any camera and it takes amazingly sharp photos with a great depth of field. It wasn't outlandishly expensive, so it's perfect for beginners. She loves it!
Pros: Consistent Output, Durable, Easily Interchangeable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight
Summary: This lens is a winner...much, much more than I bargained for. If you love macro and also the ability to shoot with a 40 mm lens...YOU WILL LOVE this lens. Outstanding for Nikon...and an excellent price. Shoot like the pros with this small wonder. You will be amazed at the results. If you are thinking 35 or 40 mm...go with this lens...you will not be disappointed.
Summary: i am very much a beginner, but I bought everything Nikon brand. No regrets with this lens. I've taken many pictures of bugs with this lens, and I'm usually surprised at what a wonderful job it does.
Summary: I haven't used it officially yet but I will in a few weeks. After doing a few randoms tests, it does an extremely great job of focusing close. I am looking forward to seeing what it can do with portraits.
