Expensive but worth it.

  • Summary: I want to complete me set of identical lens because I have a 50mm and I always wanted a 35mm. After I got this it never goes off my camera because i don't find any reason to take it off. The quality is amazing and the images is like wat u see with your naked eyes.

Excellent lens, multi purpose for DX and FX cameras!

thomasdr72, Ebay
9 April 2014
  • Summary: I bought this lens, so that I could have a dual purpose lens. Purpose #1 was to have a reasonably fast "normal" lens for my dx digital camera. It serves well in this capacity, although just a little slower (and significantly more expensive) than the baseline 35mm f/1.8 dx lens (which I sold to buy this lens) The second reason, was to have a wider prime for my full-frame (film) camera. It works great for this, and makes the switch worth it!

A good bargain.

Brad Millman, Amazon

  • Summary: I wanted a small, light lens for just walking around. 35mm give a 'normal' perspective on a DX camera and this lens does just fine in that regard. It is fast (at f2) and produces sharp images.

Great walk-around lens

Ken, B&H Photo
1 April 2014
  • Excerpt: I had an old MF 35mm Nikkor lens from years ago, and wanted to update it with this lens. This lens will not disappoint. Edge sharpness is not great unless stopped down somewhat, but I find that it is great for my needs. Small, compact, fast and sharp; what more could you need!? This lens will be with me all the time!
  • Pros: Consistent Output, Durable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight, Nice Bokeh, Rugged

Great

Desert Rat, Amazon
21 March 2014
  • Summary: Very sharp. Like most primes, the images results are superior to what the best and most expensive zooms will give you. Be aware this as the D, not the G, version and will not autofocus on D40, D60, D3100, D5100 series cameras.

Light weight and f/2.0

Laura Twining "Dr. Marm", Amazon
15 March 2014
  • Summary: I have another prime lens from the D series, 18mm f/2.8 and love it. So, when I saw this option that would in fact be an FX lens as opposed to the newer DX I ordered it right away. The aperture is crystal clear and works really well with the larger light options, such as the 2.0. Since I got this lens, it has only been off my D800E for my Lensbaby lenses and optics. Great option for less money. Size and space needed is minimal and ideal for travel, even in a coat pocket.

Amazing Lens

JFer, B&H Photo
3 February 2014
  • Excerpt: This lens is on my Df all the time. the 35mm view is so versatile. the maximum F2 aperture is incredible. i found this lens incredibly sharp at f2.8 but is good to have the option to shoot at f2. The performance is truly amazing for the price. very lightweight, great built quality made in japan, focuses very very very close. almost like a macro. i can't find any reason not to recommend this lens. and also look beautiful.
  • Pros: Consistent Output, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight, Nice Bokeh, Strong Construction
  • Cons: Tough To Attach

Good solid lens, should last a lifetime

Gramps, B&H Photo
29 January 2014
  • Excerpt: Great lens for low light photography. Focuses quick & accurate. Thought about getting Nikon's new 35 f1.8G, but I figure this one's built for the long haul, not just something fancy with only a 10 year life expectancy!
  • Pros: Durable, Easily Interchangeable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight, Rugged, Strong Construction
  • Cons: None that I've found
