Not bad but not good enough for D800

Bob, B&H Photo
9 July 2012
  • Excerpt: Probably not too bad a lens on lower resolution sensors but its age shows at D800 resolutions. Soft a bit off axis at 5.6, a little better at 8, but edge and corners are pretty soft compared to the Zeiss wides. If you like the look fine but otherwise it just has too much fall-off and CA for my taste.
  • Pros: Lightweight, Small
  • Cons: CA off axis, Soft edges

  • Summary: The images come out soft and even a bit blurry, it is slow to focus and makes a lot of noise. I bought the Sigma 10-20mm and am much happier with it and it's have a very wide field.

not for photographing people on FX body

Hooch6, Amazon
10 July 2012
  • Summary: Unlike what previous reviewer has said, this lens can not be corrected electronically for barrel distortion on an FX body as the distortion is complex in signature. DO NOT buy this for photographing groups people. neither DXO nor photoshop (CS5) softwares can correct the barrel distortion for this lens.
