Possibly the best travel lens in DX format

Kevin J, B&H Photo
20 December 2015
  • Excerpt: I have owned this lens since the 90s, and recently took it as my primary lens for a trip to Panama. I agonized over what to bring, seeking portability and durability, but also versatility. This tight little 20mm (35mm equivalent on my 7100) fits the bill.
  • Pros: Fast / accurate auto-focus, Rugged, Strong Construction
  • Cons: Poor in Low Light

Less than impressed

Greg Vekstein "vextn", Amazon
19 August 2015
  • Summary: A bit surprised by the abundance of praise for this lens...I suppose people like it for its compactness and use it mostly in the middle of the aperture range. I just bought one and having run a few tests, I can see that it's basically unusable wide open due to severe coma, even in the middle of the...

Aperture blades frozen

Twice burned, B&H Photo
16 August 2015
  • Excerpt: I have purchased two of these 20mm lenses over time. BOTH broke down after warranty with the same problem...the aperture blades won't move when the f/stop ring is moved. No abuse or dropping. Independent Nikon repair shop said this is chronic to this lens and that repair is expensive.

Useful tool for interiors photography

iHarris, B&H Photo
17 July 2015
  • Excerpt: I use this lens for interiors photography. Sometimes a 24 isn't wide enough. The 20mm fits the sweet spot without being garishly wide. No autofocus but depth of field at this focal length is abundant. It's built very well. sharp, compact. Just what I needed.
  • Pros: Durable, Lightweight, Rugged, Strong Construction

Love the size and perspective

Kevin Rose, B&H Photo
21 May 2015
  • Excerpt: i have coupled this with a Nikon D750 and this lens is very sharp. I travel a lot and I could not justify the newer alternative which is only 2 stops faster and heavier. The size is great!

Tack Sharp

Don, B&H Photo
14 May 2015
  • Excerpt: I recently bought a Nikon D810, several AF-S lenses & lighting equipment. When it came to choosing a wide angle, I purchased this manual focus from B&H to keep my mind in the game and think about exposure and focus rather than being totally automated.
  • Pros: Compact, Consistent Output, Lightweight, Smooth, Strong Construction, TACK SHARP
