Excerpt: Very sharp lens on my FX 610 Camera. Fast focus with good light, a bit slow in dim light. The lens weighs considerably less than I expected. This is good for a long day carrying the lens, but possibly(?) less durable - time will tell. So far I am very pleased with the lens.
Pros: Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight, Nice Bokeh
Excerpt: I shoot nearly all available light with a Nikon Df. The 85 1.8 when shot between 1.8 and 3.5 produces very nice bokeh, yet is very sharp in the in-focus zone. With people, I always go for the closest eye for my focus target. It is a real bargain for the cost.
Pros: Consistent Output, Easily Interchangeable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight, Nice Bokeh
Excerpt: I'm so impressed with the Nikon 85mm f1.8. I didn't think it would blow my expectations away but it did. I used this lens at my cousin's Halloween Party, so of course, we're talking very low-light – indoors and outdoors.
Pros: Consistent Output, Durable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight, Nice Bokeh
Excerpt: After much contemplation, I finally bit the bullet and purchased the 85mm 1.8 lens. I am extremely happy with this lens! I'm a lover of primes and this did not disappoint. Fabulous bokeh and also very sharp. You will not be disappointed should you purchase this lens. Great job Nikon, as usual!
Excerpt: I used it at grandson's Karate class where I could not get close or use disturbing flash. Worked fine. Did unposed at home head shots at moderate distance. Good resolution while blurring cluttered background. Good additional lens with my slower zooms.
Pros: Fast / accurate auto-focus, Nice Bokeh, Strong Construction
Excerpt: Delivers the sharpness at large print-size (24" x 36" and could go bigger easily) I'd hoped for from a prime lens on my new D810. AND, I'd not appreciated that my D810 is TOO HEAVY only with the typical VR, zoom, blah, blah, blah. It's just fine now, with the 85mm.
