User Review

Holger, Nikon
1 August 2010
  • Summary: The lens is not very sturdy. The autofocus broke after about 6 month. It was a fun lens to use, but never produce the crisp sharp images I expected from a Nikon lens. It seems that the real focus is a little behind the subject. When the autofocus failed I was unable to get the lens repaired, because I purchased the lens on-line. It seems that these lenses are not from Nikon.USA and the four year warrantee is not honored.

Not so good

Vulpine, B&H Photo
27 May 2008
  • Summary: I purchased this lens for my D40 preparatory to going on vacation in Tennessee, where I expected to get a number of landscape photos as well as less typical 'artistic' shots. While on vacation, my wife purchased a D60 with the idea of adopting the D40 taking advantage of the ability to share lenses. On both bodies my particular lens was not just slow with autofocus, but frequently did not AF at all, on either body!
  • Cons: Not Functional

  • Summary: If you have a tripod this lens is ok. Don't waste with it though. Spend the extra money and buy the VR version. I use my 55mm VR more and its awesome.
  • Cons: Image quality is horrible
