Lesson learned...

SWilliams, Amazon
28 October 2014
  • Summary: Haven't used it in a shoot yet, but I have a feeling I will have to use a tripod when I do. We'll see next week. I experimented with it in my back yard and that was okay.

  • Excerpt: I had high hopes for the lens, I bought it as a lens for my nikon d200. I have another camera so I wasn't too interested in a high end lens, I just needed a lens. I took a few shots and they were pretty decent.

Doesn't focus at long distances!

  • Summary: If you are looking for a lens that has great macro qualities and has a good manual focus setting, then look no further. this lens is great for manual focus shooting and tight focus macro shots. but, my lens came with a defect that makes it impossible for me to shoot good auto focus pictures.

  • Excerpt: This lens has issues. Without the stabilization, it is not much better than a paperweight. Spend the $$ on the image stabilization or move up to the VR 70-300 - great lens!!!

  • Excerpt: This lens lacks sharpness and the VR is null. For a person new to photography it can be a good lens. For advanced amateurs and higher, you would be better off investing your money elsewhere like buying a new bag or something more productive. It has a turtle fast focus as well.
