Excerpt: I purchased this lens almost specifically to shoot shallow depth of field on product shots. I've found myself using it in many other situations. It has performed extremely well for me. It is not Nikon's best 50MM by any stretch and I find myself being very careful using it because of the plastic feel of the lens, but it is working fine for me !!
Excerpt: I haven't had too much time to play with this lens, but my daughter used it while we were doing an engagement photography session. She loved it and the pictures look great. I love the fact that this lens is rather cheap for a Nikon lens, and the picture quality looks really good.
Pros: Consistent Output, Durable, Easily Interchangeable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight, Nice Bokeh, Strong Construction
Summary: I wasn't expecting much and I knew it would be auto focusing on my DX body camera. It was a bit sharper at 2.2 than at 1.8 but still focuses alright when fully open. It is VERY hard for me to focus with it where as my 1.9 Yashica is very easy for me to find my focus point, granted it has a focus prism... Overall great lens. Next for me is the 1.8 35mm so i will catch more pictures.
Excerpt: First time purchasing a "prime" lens. Did my online research. Everyone seems to love this simple, inexpensive lens ! Ordered thru B&H who had the best price. Lens arrived 3 days earlier than expected. Easy to install. Works perfectly.
Excerpt: I love this lens! It is a great, affordable lens that does the job well. The lens isn't "compatible" with my camera body (Nikon D3000) so I have to manually focus, which gets annoying when I'm trying to quickly get a shot, but the overall quality is great.
Excerpt: This lens is tiny, super light, focuses quickly, and creates a good image. It's a bit noisy, so wedding photographers may prefer AF-S, and if you drop your camera habitually, the build quality might be a concern, Still, build quality is decent, it costs 50% less than alternatives. Go for it!
Pros: Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight, Nice Bokeh
