Bargain!

  • Excerpt: For what you pay this is the best value-for-money ever. Sweet subject separation, good low-light fast lens. With an auto-focusing camera this lens in unbeatable. If you want to focus manually, I say make sure you try it before you buy it.
  • Pros: Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight, Nice Bokeh
  • Cons: Flimsy Manual Focus, Plastic Everything

Great Lens

  • Excerpt: I mostly use this lens for portrait photos, but once in a while would use is for landscape photos. I love the bokeh that this lens produces, and as well as the sharpness of it. But the best thing about this lens is the price, worth every penny.
  • Pros: Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight, Nice Bokeh
  • Cons: Blurry Focus

Nice Starter Lens

Photography Enthusiast, B&H Photo
15 April 2015
  • Excerpt: This lens is a charm. Super sharp. However the unfortunate thing is that the aperture control ring doesn't work with a Nikon D610. Aperture has to be manually controlled on the body of the camera.
  • Pros: Consistent Output, Easily Interchangeable, Lightweight

Has lasted for years

  • Excerpt: I've used this since I owned a D40 over 6 years ago. It's a terrific lightweight lens for both DX and FX cameras and not bad as a manual focus lens (as it is on Nikon's cheaper cameras). It's extremely sharp and almost distortion free, even wide open, making it great for products and portraits.
  • Pros: Consistent Output, Durable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight, Nice Bokeh, Rugged, Strong Construction

Great Cheap Upgrade

Lucy Lay, B&H Photo
24 March 2015
  • Excerpt: This was a great upgrade from the kit lens (18-55 mm) if you're not looking to spend a lot of money. The prime lens gives you that quality shallow depth of field without spending hundreds on a zoom lens with a high f-stop. Do be aware that the autofocus is NOT compatible with some Nikon cameras!!
  • Pros: Easily Interchangeable, Lightweight

Great Lens - Great Price

8 March 2015
  • Excerpt: I needed an affordable, fixed. fast-ish lens for low light photography and a shallower depth of field. I am thankful that this exists and it is a very decent, sharp lens. I guess it seems a little flimsy and plastic-y, but photos are what matter.
  • Pros: Consistent Output, Easily Interchangeable, Lightweight
  • Cons: Difficult to Clean, Slow Focus, Weak Casing
