Summary: This is a great little lens if you have a full frame Nikon DSLR, it is lightweight and small enough to fit in a small gadget bag. This particular model does not have the VR function, so I would spend the extra few dollars and go for the VR version if you are mostly shooting under low light conditions. But for outdoors this lens is sufficient.
Summary: This is a great all purpose lens. It allows you to take Portrait, Landscape, and Macro shots with a single lens - not many pieces of glass can make this claim. The only reason I'm giving it a 'Good' rating instead of 'Excellent' is because the Nikon 24-70 f/2.8 is noticeably sharper, but costs 3x the price. If you're looking for value, this is your lens.
Summary: I love this lens. As crazy as it sounds I didn't think a 20 year old lens would give me such fantastic shots. I picked this up on ebay for under $80.00 and it was worth it. I use it as my everyday lens. It is a lens that I didn't spend a grand on so I allow my kids to use it when they want to photograph things too. There are some cons but every lens has a con right?
Summary: I bought this lens to cover the general walk-around photographing - so it is on my camera all the time. The lens is 1. Sharp through out the zoom range 2. A great day-light lens with better than average speed 3. To obtain a natural feeling of the photos, I also put a Nikon NC filter and it turns out great results. 4.
Summary: I've had this lens for more than a year now and taken a few thousand pictures with it. It blows my old Tamron zoom completely away. 24-85mm is a huge range. It's just so darn convenient to zoom instead of changing lenses. The color is excellent with only a little aberration noticeable with extreme contrasts. It's certainly bigger and heavier than a point-and-shoot camera, but it delivers the same kind of instant flexibility.
Summary: I use this lens on my D80 and its a great lens and has great color. This and my 18-200vr are my walk around lens. When photographing not needing the longer distance this is my choice over the 18-200vr.Its a full frame lens that is a perfect fit on a DX camera. Very sharp!
