Excerpt: I shoot pretty much everything I can. I took a huge leap and bought a D810 which has been a great camera. With the camera I bought 2 lenses. This is the main lens and it has been a great lens with one major exception. It sometimes fails to focus and has to go back to Nikon to be repaired.
Excerpt: I've used this lens for weddings and landscapes where it performs pretty good. It's not as sharp as it should be though. I'm extremely disappointed in how badly it it performs for sports. The lens focuses quickly but "hunts" to the background and nothing is in sharp focus.
Excerpt: I rented this lens because it was so highly rated by others. I shoot sports league T&I so I thought this might be close to a good portrait lens that would allow me to zoom for those occasional "different" shots that required more room.
Summary: The mug was not constructed well. The inside separated from the exterior after 3 days and was allowing coffee to get down between the two walls. It is really cool looking and I do love the look, but would not purchase again.
Excerpt: I'm returning this one for exchange. At $500/hr for helicopter time, you want your lens to be sharp. All the way out to the corners. And without VR (this lens doesn't have it) you need all the speed you can get to fight the helicopter vibration. This copy is unusable below f11.
Pros: Has A Good Reputation, Pretty Good Iq In Center, Should Be A Good Lens
Cons: Bad Quality Control, Horrible Iq In Corners, Misaligned, No Vibration Reduction
Excerpt: Unacceptably horrible at the corners, even when stopped down as far as f5.6. Is only useable at f11. I need it for aerials, and the entire frame must be tack sharp. At f11 and with no VR, it would my life almost impossible. B&H,as usual, is great.
Excerpt: General Purpose Reasonably well built (for the price) My sample is bad. Tested at marked focal lengths and full stops from 2.8 thru 8. Corners and short axis edges did not hold up except at 70mm. HUGE blue fringing from corners to 1/3 way in frame.
Pros: Easily Interchangeable, Fast / accurate auto-focus
Excerpt: The size and weight of this lens far outweigh its usefulness. I sold my one because of this fact. The lens is fantastic optically and is very well built. The lens should come with a set of support wheels its so heavy.
Pros: Durable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Nice Bokeh, Strong Construction
Excerpt: Since my purchase two years ago, this lens just wasn't right. I have now sent back to Nikon Service for Focus recalabration (second service). SO far I got stuck at two diufferent shoots (a wedding and a baptism) where the pictures were slightly out of focus and immediatelly switched lenses!
