Summary: This lens gets a lot of mixed reviews which tend to be opinions based upon results from the users style and type of photography. If you are a serious landscape shooter this lens may not be for you. If you shoot weddings, events or people with a photojournalism style this lens is for you. No matter what body you use your photographs can be sharp with beautiful color and contrast. I am impressed with it and use it nearly every shoot I'm on.
Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8G IF-ED AF-S Nikkor review by mrcontinental

Summary: This has been the professional standard since it was introduced and with good reason. Razor sharp with outstanding color and contrast. A bit of distortion at the wide end but it's better than not getting the shot at all. Not perfect of course but anyone who expects perfection at this price is dreaming. Works fantastic in the field which is all I care about.
Pros: Excellent color and contrast, built like a tank
Summary: I wouldn't even think about shooting an event without this lens. It is one of three lenses I must have for my wedding shoots. It is just unbelievably great. Before I could afford this lens I rented it to do several shoots because it wasn't the same shooting without it. I'm in love with it!!!! This thing is so versatile!!!!
Summary: Beautiful lens! Bought this lens as an all around piece of gear. I needed something that could be used in most situations. This lens is fast, crisp, great for use indoor or outdoors. I've already used it for a newborn session and a wedding and it was a great asset for both. I've always been a fan of Nikon primes, which are certainly hard to beat, especially at wide open apertures.
Summary: There's very little, if anything, I can say about this lens that hasn't been said dozens of other times already by other reviewers. The ups definitely outweigh the downs. If I really had to nitpick then I could say that there's a little bit of distortion at some focal lengths and that there's a touch of vignetting wide open but in both cases it's not severe enough to warrant any decrease in rating as both are very easily correctable and I've seen far worse from other...
The bottom line is this: you will NOT regret buying this lens. It is great!

Summary: This lens is everything I have ever heard about this lens. It is an incredibly sharp and fast lens. I bought this lens for my son who is an aspiring professional photographer. He and I went to a botanical garden to shoot photos of flowers and insects. He tested this lens to a true 100 mm f2.8 macro on shooting the flowers and he choose to use this 24-70 mm over the macro!
Summary: So far the best lens purchase I made! Wish I would have owned it sooner. On my Nikon D7000, it's a great walk around lens for zoos, parks, & art museums. Works great for portraits on an APS-C sensor camera with really nice bokeh. Will be great to use for some landscape shooting when I get a full frame camera. I highly recommend!
Pros: Consistent Output, Durable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Nice Bokeh, Rugged, Strong Construction
Great lens, but I'm spoiled by other low light 50mm and 85mm unless you want a very good zoom lens for the focal range

Summary: While this is a great lens and super sharp. I don't use it as often as my 50mm or 85mm for now and I hope my general reviews of the various lens and how I use them will help you find the right lens for the right situations for you. In summary, this is how I feel and use my lens today and maybe this will be helpful when you are looking at what to get. * AF-S 50mm f/1.4: Great for infants and walk-around lens on the street.
