Excerpt: I generally refuse to use zoom lenses as I am pathologically obsessive about sharpness. I have tested this lens against Nikon's fixed focal length 50mm standard lens and my famous rangefinder 50mm. It is not quite as sharp as the rangefinder lens, but compares favorably to the Nikon 50mm.
Pros: Consistent Output, Durable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Rugged, Strong Construction
Summary: Awesome lens! I'm a professional photographer shooting a wide variety of subject matter from posed family shots to live band performances (both indoor and out.) I found that my previous lens Nikkor 28-300 (3.5-5.6) just wasn't fast enough with the concert photography unless all the stars were...
Summary: Before this lens, I primarily switched between the 35,50, and 85 G Prime lenses. I found it tedious having to switch between lenses when hiking, so I opted for a zoom that wouldn't sacrifice image quality.
Excerpt: I was a little hesitant as to wait for the new VR. I can say with confident I'm glad I didn't waited and went with the ED. Images are just amazing. I just shoot a wedding with this lens as my primary and a 50mm 1.4. I can say that this lens outperformed my expectations. A must have in your kit. A+
Pros: Consistent Output, Easily Interchangeable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Nice Bokeh, Strong Construction
Excerpt: I wanted this lens for a long time, took me a while to raise the money for it. When I did, I found it consistently foced well behind the subject, repeatedly and ender all conditions. I retured it to Nikon a total of 4 times. They insisted there was nothing wrong with it.
