I would buy this product again!!!

  • Summary: This product is a christmas gift for a friend. He is elderly but still likes to take quality wildlife shots with good glass. However the longer lenses with exceptional glass are way to heavy for him, this lens fit the bill perfectly. I tested it and the clarity of the shots are just about as good as my 70 - 200 2.8 canon lens!! I was thrilled with the results and the weight wont be an issue for him. wonderful lens [...

One Great Lens

  • Summary: This is an amazing lens. If you read Ken Rockwell he says this is among Nikon's worst lenses, HE IS WRONG!!! The VR is addictive! The lens quality is as good as it gets. True there is no do all zoom however, with this zoom you will find the need for a smaller camera bag, I did. I use this on my F5 and my D700, and it is great. With the ability of the D700 and it's high ISO, with this lens you can shoot the street at night even at 5.6.
  • Pros: Sharp Focus

An improvement

  • Summary: This is the second 24/120 f/3.5-5.6 VR I have owned. The newer one is much better. Seems to be slightly more solid, and is substantially sharper. It is a good lens. Only improvement would make it much larger, by making it a constant 2.8 lens. VR is very good.

Amazing lense

21 August 2008
  • Summary: This is one of the most versatile lens I own. Focus position on the lens is after the manual focus position, on my other Nikon lens the manual one is after the distance. Very lightweight and fast. I just love it.

Nikon "reputation" is still intact

15 August 2008
  • Summary: I purchased the product to pick up a mid-range advantage and fill a gap for general use between my nikkor 18-55mm and 70-300mm VR lenses. The lense performs superbly with the D300 body, quiet and quick with no distortion whats so ever on shots that I have enlarged. The VR feature gives the user a couple of extra faster shooting stops over a standard lense in the same class of optics.

Good & versatile

  • Summary: Rather good lenses, light and with enough focal range for being the only lenses to take during a trip, specially with a 35mm. or a digital FX camera: you have from wide angle to zoom focal distance. VR is more than a must! is incredible what you can do with vibration reduction technology! Only one negative comment, I dislike the "loose feeling" of the front element from the rear of the lens when zooming.
  • Pros: Lightweight
  • Cons: Construction not strong
