REVIEW: Nikon Micro Nikkor 200mm f/4 D (IF) ED
4 September 2008
Conclusion: Despite its obvious quality, this lens does seem to be a little long in the tooth. More suited to specialised macro duties on a tripod than as a general purpose macro lens, it prove extremely hard to hand hold and get decent results. If you are thinking that the long focal length will be ideal for chasing bugs and butterflies, you will need to go crashing through the undergrowth with a tripod in tow! Consider a 70-200mm VR and extension ring instead.
Pros: Exceptional build quality, Good tripod collar (needed), Good CA/distortion control
Excerpt: While I hope to create a full Nikon 200mm f/4D AF Micro Lens evaluation, my first priority is to include results from this lens in the lens comparison tools. This page currently exists because it is required by the database and content management systems for the posting of those standard test results.
