Summary: Not only is this a great well rounded lens, but the price was fantastic. The lens was used but in mint condition, as promised. The seller went above and beyond what was expected. I was going on a vacation, and my previous lens was broken. Time was critical in getting a new lens for my trip which was just a few days away. The seller overnighted the lens, and didn’t even charge me for the additional shipping! He understood the importance of having the lens for the trip.
Summary: This is one of the real "value" Nikon lenses. Along with the 28-105 mm Macro, they give much better image quality compared to the various kit lenses. Even though plastic, they feel solid and the 18-70 has weather sealing. Wide open the 18-70 shows a little softness on the wide end, but Photoshop easily fixes this. Same with wide distortion - pronounced barrel (but first order) is also easily corrected.
Summary: This one is pretty straightforward -- if you have a nikon D40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 200, or 3000 body (all are less than 10 megapixel cameras) this 18-70 lens is a great deal in 2013 if you find a lightly used copy. If you have a D90, 5000, 300, or 3100 model you'll need to use good technique and work with the lens in its sweet spot. If you have a D5100, 5200, 3200, 7000 or 7100 forget it -- the lens under-performs on these super-high resolution sensors.
