Nikon AF Nikkor 14mm f/2.8D ED Lens Review

SLR Lens and Camera Reviews
6 June 2009
  • Summary: Making a super wide angle lens is not an easy task and lens manufacturers often have to accept one or another trade off in order to bring to market a product that would be reasonably priced and still deliver acceptable performance. Nikon AF Nikkor 14mm f/2.8D ED is no exception here and the lens has some trade offs that you need to consider before making a purchase. The build quality and the center image performance are the obvious strong points going for this prime.

Nikkor AF 14mm f/2.8 D ED - Review / Test Report

3 December 2008
  • Conclusion: The Nikkor AF 14mm f/2.8D ED is a good ultra-wide angle lens but it is not a killer offer - especially so regarding its very high price tag. Technically the resolution figures are superb in the center and Okayish (f/2.8) to (just) very good (f/8) at the borders. The lens produces rather heavy vignetting at f/2.8 but beyond the issue is handled really well.
