Excerpt: The lens is built like a tank and will probably last a life time. Not as sharp as I expected and the DC did not perform as I had hoped.I'm sending it back. However, I like the f2 speed and will give the 105mm version a try.I may have received a bad unit
Summary: This lens doesn't focus well with my Nikon D 2-X and D 2-H camera bodies. I called Nikon and was told I need to send the lens to Nikon with one of the cameras to have the camera adjusted to work with the lens. That's probably going to cost about $325 or so.
Summary: I was really hoping to just LOVE this lens but it has been rather disappointing. It is softer than most of my lenses even when stopped down. Then the aperature ring started to lock all the time.
Excerpt: I'm starting to view this lens as a "one trick pony." If you want a nice wide aperture portrait lens, for some dreamy, moody portraits, this is a fine choice. If you want more versatility, go with the 105 macro.
Pros: Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight, Nice Bokeh
Excerpt: For who is using DX camera, and please forget about this len, go for 85mm. This is specialy constructed len as it has DC feature build in. But i did not find that feature as that useful as it stated.
Pros: Consistent Output, Durable, Nice Bokeh, Strong Construction
