Good compact size

Hark, B&H Photo
11 June 2013
  • Excerpt: I got this lens to make my Nikon V1 into a pocket camera. The V1 with the original 10-30mm lens with VR was too big to fit into the cargo pockets of my pants, but the 11-27.5mm is compact enough to fit. The lens image quality is very good and for this focal range I don't really miss the VR. The V1 with the 11-27.5mm provides me with a quality pocket camera with many of the features of my DSLRs. Much better than the point and shoot I used to carry.
  • Pros: Compact, Lightweight

Good Job, Marketing

A. Walker, Amazon

  • Summary: I am sure that this lens is a great tool and does what it is suppose to do. I like accessories for my camera so I can have choices. Of course I have just about all the available lenses for my Nikon 1 V1. When I purchased this lens, I only learned that this lens was no better than the Nikon 1 Nikkor 10-30mm f/3.5-5.6 VR that I have already pruchased. In fact the 10-30mm had the vibration reduction (VR) feature that made it better.

Nikon 1 11-27.5mm f/3.5-5.6 Nikkor review by Prime Minister

Prime Minister, slrgear.com
29 March 2013
  • Summary: This Nikon 1 11-27.5mm lens performs better then I thought it would. I guess it's because of the new design with ED and aspherical glass elements. Zooming isn't very smooth but it isn't bad either. The lens feels a bit cheap. Maybe because it's so light and mostly made of plastic. It does have a metal mount though and it's not an expensive lens. It's very compact and about a centimeter shorter then the Nikon 1 VR 10-30mm lens.
  • Pros: Very small and lightweight, sharp and contrasty
  • Cons: Feels a bit cheap, some flare

Great Update to the Kit Lens for my J1!

Shawn C., Amazon
22 March 2013
  • Summary: I considered Nikon 1 system because of the compact size and great image quality pictures it is able to produce. Nikon 1 cameras have smaller sensors. Many people wave it off due to this reason. Well, my J1 is capable of producing great images regardless of it's sensor size. I already have Canon 7D and I wanted something small for carry everywhere. I chose J1 over the V1 because of weight and size. Still, there had to be reason for Nikon choosing the smaller sensor.

One Great Little Lens

John B, Amazon
8 February 2013
  • Summary: I bought this lens for it's size and weight to use in digiscoping; using a camera to make images through a spotting scope. For this purpose it really worked as expected. I have not used it for any general photography so can't speak for it's broader use.

Quite simply, "WOW!"

C. F. Leffen "OldArcher", Amazon
21 January 2013
  • Summary: I have developed my latest camera gear into a professionally worthy system, and the Nikon 1 Nikkor 11-27.5mm f/3.5-5.5.6 (White) lens is a worthy addition. Clarity through it's range, it is superb for fast, close-in work. I have a Nikon 1 J1 and a Nikon 1 V2, and all of the Nikkor lenses that these camera bodies can handle.
