Refreshing change-of-pace

Noblenewf, B&H Photo
  • Excerpt: I still don't quite have the hang of selective focus but boy is this a lot of fun! I have been reconsidering past photographic subjects, looking at things in a completely new, fresh way. The hardest part of using this for me is knowing where the sweet spot is in relation to how much I've rotated the lens. It's very well made and easy to use with my D600. I'm thinking that I may just keep it permanently affixed to my older D300.
  • Pros: Easily Interchangeable, Lightweight, Nice Bokeh

  • Excerpt: Really a fun lens. Allows you to be creative with ordinary shots and isolate your subject in a unique fashion. I really enjoy the potential of this lens and think anyone looking for something new to try to be more expressive with their photography should get this lens.
  • Pros: Nice Bokeh

n accessory lens with dynamic focus

David, B&H Photo
6 June 2014
  • Excerpt: I use this for dramatic focus effects out of the camera. This is a novelty lens, something to buy when you essentially have most of the lenses you want, or don't mind spending a few bucks to get a limited-purpose tool. It permits you to play with a dynamic sweet spot, thanks to the ability of the user to change the axis of the lens with respect to the film/sensor plane. It takes some getting used to in order to get satisfactory results.
  • Pros: Durable, Dynamic Creativity, Dynamic Focus, Easily Interchangeable, Lightweight, Nice Bokeh
  • Cons: Blurry Focus, Inconsistent output, Long Learning Curve, No Automatic Functions

Very unique, easy to use but takes practice.

J. Campbell, Amazon

  • Summary: To start, this is a very unique lens. It shifts the plane of focus to produce interesting out-of-focus effects. There are many different versions of the Lensbaby - I have only used this one. I am a wedding photographer by trade, but I also shoot nature and wildlife photography. This lens is easy to start with (if you understand what you are getting into), but requires patience and practice to get the photos you want out of it, and because of this, it can sadly turn away...
