Summary: This was my first Lensbaby, the 3G. I had seen this on some video tutorials and thought this was the only one. I bought it used, like new, so I could save a few bucks. Then I discovered the family of Lensbaby's. As they say, the rest is history. This is the one I first learned on, sweet spot and blur. At first it was a learning curve, especially on how to hold it and push the shutter button.
Summary: Very cool lens. This was used so I had to buy the aperture kit $12 no big deal. I used to use my 50mm for my quick and dirty work, but I love being able to push the focus point around so much!

Summary: You just can't convey to anyone how much fun you can have with this lens. People say "you're kidding, right"? No, I'm not!!! If you have any "creative juices" in you at all, this lens will bring it out!!! Once you master the controls, you're on the way to a very unique area of photography - one you will surely enjoy. As the saying states - "Try it, you'll like it".
Summary: Lensbabies 3G for Canon EF - is a great tool for creative pictures! It makes sharp the chosen target but blurs everything else on picture in a nice way. One of the main features of this lens that you can make yourself the form of diaphragm (heart, star, cross, square, and etc). The other feature that you can fix desired view with three metal posts (not as with lensbabies 2.0 or MUSE).
Summary: This is more fun than technically useful. The fine tuning takes a lot of work to arrive at a commercially usable product. I had fun taking flower closeups and baby face closeups. It is an expensive toy, in my opinion.

Summary: The review above by C. Zimmerman covers most of what you need to know about the mechanics of this lens. Note that I am reviewing this particular lens, but the new version is called the "Control Freak", and has removable center optics. This version has a fixed lens element in the center of the bellows.
Summary: I bought the Lensbaby 3G from Amazon a month or so ago. Since I've received it, I can't say I could be more pleased. This thing is awesome! It's so easy to use (in spite of what you may think from looking at it), and I can focus it on just about anything almost instantly. It's so easy to focus that I can grab shots just as easily as if I'd had an autofocus lens on my camera. Stuck with a boring background, and need to make a creative portrait?
Summary: The other review goes into a lot of technical detail. I just wanted to add that the Lensbaby is FUN! It adds a new dimension to my photography, is enough of a challenge to make the results rewarding and is definitely a way to mix it up when you want to. I love my 18-200 Nikon VR lens but this is a great complement. I don't use the locking feature very often so you could probably get the 1st or 2nd gen versions and have just as much fun. But the 3G does look very cool.

Summary: The Lensbaby is a few ounces of pure fun, that will COMPLETELY take you back to those days when you were a photographer walking around LOOKING for things to shoot! The Lensbaby will allow you to go back to the time when you considered framing, planes of focus, composition and converging lines, depth of field, shutter speed and f-stop, and MANUAL focus, all before you pressed the shutter.
