Excerpt: This is my first Leica camera and lens and I love it! Easy to use and the pictures are fantastic. I love the options, and once I downloaded current software to my (used) camera, the lens was perfect at every setting from mid distance to fairly close and in dim to bright light. It took me no time at all to adjust to a rangefinder and to the camera, even though I'd just glanced at the manual. Now that I've had time to study it more, my photos are even better.
Pros: Classic, Durable, Easy To Use, Reliable, Top quality
Summary: A very well performing lens, even at aperture fully open. I use it on M9 (digital) and also older M5 and M6 analog cameras and have been always extremely pleased with the results. Superior sharpness, no visible distortions, very flare-resistant in opposite light. The max. aperture of f=2,5 I've found not so much disadvantage over a much more costly Summicron f=2.0 lens. Compared to other Leica lenses, this seems a good value for me.
Pros: great image quality, nice mechanical precision, small size, very low weight
Cons: only one: the optional Leica metallic sunshade (expensive!) rotates very easily in its thread...
Excerpt: I was not expecting much from this lens, but I was shocked when I tried it out. I use in on an M9 and an M6 and the photos are really nice and crisp, it may be that I have never gotten to try out any other Leica lens before and this is the only one I have, I also get a great sense of depth with these photos and again I don't have anything to compare to with the other Leica lenses but I can only imagine how good the others are if this one is this good!
Excerpt: I bought this lens because my budget is limited and I am not a pre-owned lenses guy (been burned before). At this price point, this will be the best Leica lens you can buy. Lots of review not favor this lens (I don't know why), but I found it is actually much better than I thought. The contrast, warm color rendition, smooth bokeh... I didn't regret to get it. If you want to get into Leica's world with limited budget, this is the one to go with.
Excerpt: I returned to Leica after 19 years. My old lenses were the 35 & 50 summicrons. The new summarit is the equal & seems sharper. The luscious Leica micro-contrast resembles images from an 8 by 10 view camera. The digital Leica sensor is nothing short of amazing and is miles better than the finest grained 35mm film. In my view, it betters many medium format films and when you add the Leica optics, the tonal range is stunning.
