Not Up To Par With The Other Lenses

McQ, B&H Photo
26 March 2013
  • Excerpt: I was looking forward to this lens on the X-E1. I bought it along with the 60mm f/2.4 and the beautiful 35mm f/1.4. The 18mm doesn't come close to the others. Image quality was "good", but to be honest, I didn't keep it on the camera very long because it felt so cheap I thought it might be broken. As another reviewer wrote, the aperture ring feels cheap and flimsy. You can't tell if you're settling in on a particular aperture or not.
  • Pros: Easily Interchangeable, Lightweight, Nice Bokeh
  • Cons: Aperture Ring Felt Broken, feels cheap, Slow Focus, Weak Casing

Focal Length setting for this lens

James G. Derbes, Amazon
20 August 2012
  • Summary: I love the camera and the 35 mm. lens. I am considering the purchase of the 18 mm. lens. My X-Pro-1 has no 18 mm. focal length setting. Just 21, 24 and 28mm. Is this a problem?

Good Image Quality that's about it

5 June 2012
  • Excerpt: Good image quality that's about it. I really wanted to like this lens. But the built feels cheap. The aperature ring isn't smooth when ticking over f-stops. The focus by wire design feeling like its constantly trying to catch up with itself. The auto focus even after firmware update did not help with these issues. Too many missed shots. I returned this lens.
  • Pros: Easily Interchangeable, Lightweight
  • Cons: Blurry Focus, Lens Creep, Not accurate auto focus, Slow Focus
