Best "kit" lens I have ever had.graphy

Bill, B&H Photo
  • Excerpt: I use this lens with my X-E1 for keeping with me at all times for those shots "I wish I had my camera". to capture. Also, for street photography and landscape. It is not the fastest lens for focusing, but overall, I am very pleased with the performance of this lens.
  • Pros: Durable, Easily Interchangeable, Lightweight, Strong Construction
  • Cons: Slow Focus

The best serious kit lens around!!

George, B&H Photo

  • Excerpt: This is not the 3.5-5.6 cheaper alternative kit lens. This lens is solid and the image quality is excellent. It has Optical Image Stabilization. I'm not too crazy about the protruding zoom element though. Size wise, this lens is a darling to the point you'd want to hug it!

NOT your Nikons "Kit Lens"

Rob Smith, B&H Photo
22 March 2015
  • Excerpt: I picked up this "kit lens" with my Fuji X-T1 when I switched from my old Nikon D90 to mirrorless. Let me just say the build quality and output from this lens is wonderful. The f/2.8-4 range is very usable.
  • Pros: Consistent Output, Cost, Easily Interchangeable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight, Nice Bokeh
  • Cons: Variable Aperture

Not a "Kit Lens"

Phantom Photog, B&H Photo
2 September 2014
  • Excerpt: 18-55mm is the lens many cameras come bundled with and it's usually not their best effort. Not the case here. This is a great lens. In fact I believe every lens Fujinon makes is a winner. They simply don't make 'budget' lenses.
  • Pros: Durable, Easily Interchangeable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight, Nice Bokeh, Strong Construction

Wonderful

Holly, B&H Photo
6 August 2014
  • Excerpt: This "kit" lens for the Fuji line of X mount cameras is anything but a kit lens. The quality of images it produces on my XE1 are amazing. I rarely have to do much in post on these shots. Contrast is great. Sharpness is great. Colors are usually right on the money.
  • Pros: Easily Interchangeable, Lightweight, Nice Bokeh, TACK SHARP
  • Cons: Slow Focus

I was avoiding zoom lenses

Adorama
10 June 2014
  • Excerpt: ...but...I kept looking at the 18 to 55 focal length for an all-around lens... the f/2.8 -4 aperture is a little faster than many other-brand kit lenses. This is a solid performer... Feels good to handle.. Images are great. I use this with the x-T1 and keep the setup on auto ISO.
  • Pros: Durable, Easy To Use, Lightweight, Reliable

Great glass for a zoom

Dan at Vigorotaku, Adorama

  • Excerpt: It is best used in decent light. When the light gets lower I would go with the 56 1.2 or another prime.

Good General-purpose lens

rjuna18tr, Ebay
10 May 2014
  • Summary: I'm more of a prime lens shooter but this is great for when traveling with one lens to cover slightly wide to normal views; well made, responsive, solid design works fine on X-E1. Would like to see Fuji come out with a wider range ie: 14 -85+ and with click stops.

With a maximum apeture of f2.8 it is bright, very sharp, and exhibits excellent build quality. I use the lens on my Fufi X Pro 1 and X T1 with outstanding results.
