Not a "Kit Lens"

Excerpt: 18-55mm is the lens many cameras come bundled with and it's usually not their best effort. Not the case here. This is a great lens. In fact I believe every lens Fujinon makes is a winner. They simply don't make 'budget' lenses. They may appear pricey compared to other manufacturers but if you compare them to lenses of the same quality, they are quite reasonable.I got this with an X-Pro1 just before leaving for three weeks in Asia.
Pros: Durable, Easily Interchangeable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight, Nice Bokeh, Strong Construction
Excerpt: This "kit" lens for the Fuji line of X mount cameras is anything but a kit lens. The quality of images it produces on my XE1 are amazing. I rarely have to do much in post on these shots. Contrast is great. Sharpness is great. Colors are usually right on the money. I can handhold this camera with the optical image stabilization (OIS) turned on and get tack sharp images at 1/27th of a second!
Excerpt: ...but...I kept looking at the 18 to 55 focal length for an all-around lens... the f/2.8 -4 aperture is a little faster than many other-brand kit lenses. This is a solid performer... Feels good to handle.. Images are great. I use this with the x-T1 and keep the setup on auto ISO. There is almost always enough light to get good images.
Summary: I'm more of a prime lens shooter but this is great for when traveling with one lens to cover slightly wide to normal views; well made, responsive, solid design works fine on X-E1. Would like to see Fuji come out with a wider range ie: 14 -85+ and with click stops.
Excerpt: The Fujifilm xf 18-55mm is an excellent all purpose lens. This lens covers the range from medium wideangle to short telephoto. With a maximum apeture of f2.8 it is bright, very sharp, and exhibits excellent build quality. I use the lens on my Fufi X Pro 1 and X T1 with outstanding results. The autofocus with this lens is fast and accurate on both cameras, but extremely fast on the X T 1.
Excerpt: I use this lens for most of my photography, I also have the 18, 35 and 60mm lenses. I use those lens when I want faster speed or the best resolution I can get but the XF 18-55mm f/2.8-4 R LM OIS Zoom is sharper than I thought it would be. Solid build, smooth action, small and light weight. This lens is as good as my Canon zoom lenses. Wish it had f. stops on the lens like the others but I do understand being a non fixed aperture lens prevents this feature.
Excerpt: This lens is used on an X-pro 1 body as the single, carry along lens for photojournalism, technical, and scenic photography. It works seamlessly with the camera and has good definition and is well made. Using the manual f-stop and focus requires more turns, and thus more effort, than a lens for a Leica rangefinder.
Excerpt: Good sharp lens, max aperture beats most kit zooms, OIS works fine. Not as good as the fuji primes, and it is just about as big as an SLR lens, so no real size improvement for going mirrorless. AF adequate, certainly not excellent, but that is the deal with the fuji x camera's, at least for now.
