  • Excerpt: I use this lens on the X-E1 for general photography. The whole package is much lighter than my Canon 7D and produces results that are equal or better.
  • Pros: Easily Interchangeable, Lightweight, Rugged, Strong Construction

I was avoiding zoom lenses

Adorama
10 June 2014
  • Excerpt: ...but...I kept looking at the 18 to 55 focal length for an all-around lens... the f/2.8 -4 aperture is a little faster than many other-brand kit lenses. This is a solid performer... Feels good to handle.. Images are great. I use this with the x-T1 and keep the setup on auto ISO. There is almost always enough light to get good images.
  • Pros: Durable, Easy To Use, Lightweight, Reliable

A great lens but the price is high (as are all Fuji lenses).

  • Summary: This is my preferred lens. Although I did get the kit lens with the camera, I use this lens instead. I recently took it on a trip to Arizona where it performed flawlessly. I recommend it if you can afford it.

Great glass for a zoom

  • Excerpt: It is best used in decent light. When the light gets lower I would go with the 56 1.2 or another prime.

Yowza !

  • Excerpt: I bought this lens with the X-T1 with a little hesitancy as some people were saying this lens is over rated...well either they do not know what they are talking about or they got a bad copy . This lens delivers the goods . Sometimes I may need a little faster lens in low light situations and the 56 1.2 will do in those situations...but this little zoom stays on my camera ...and it focuses very quickly and it tracks accurately as well. Wonderful lens..

Versatile perfection

CatMarley, B&H Photo
1 June 2014
  • Excerpt: I photograph the things in my life - my dogs, my garden, my friends and the rural countryside where I live. I have owned Nikons since the late 70's, and belonged to camera clubs, and even exhibited my work in shows. I have 3 Nikon DSLR's and many lenses, but they are heavy, and I am not getting any younger, so I bought The Fujifilm XT-1 with the 18-55f/2.8-4. I was seriously blown away by this lens!

Good General-purpose lens

  • Summary: I'm more of a prime lens shooter but this is great for when traveling with one lens to cover slightly wide to normal views; well made, responsive, solid design works fine on X-E1. Would like to see Fuji come out with a wider range ie: 14 -85+ and with click stops.

Not your garden variety kit lens

Jazzyag, Adorama
22 April 2014
  • Excerpt: The Fujifilm xf 18-55mm is an excellent all purpose lens. This lens covers the range from medium wideangle to short telephoto. With a maximum apeture of f2.8 it is bright, very sharp, and exhibits excellent build quality. I use the lens on my Fufi X Pro 1 and X T1 with outstanding results. The autofocus with this lens is fast and accurate on both cameras, but extremely fast on the X T 1.
  • Pros: Exellent Build Quality, Sharp

Excellent lens with OIS disabled

DrJay, B&H Photo
7 March 2014
  • Excerpt: I got this lens with a Fujifilm X-T1 body. I love the overall construction of the lens; it's solidly built. I also liked the aperture range, which is about a stop faster than most kit lenses. Just for fun, I compared this lens against my 24-70mm Nikkor. My first tests were disappointing; fine details were slightly mushy. However, I then disabled OIS, and got blown away. This lens rivals the 24-70mm for sharpness on a 16MP body.
  • Pros: Build quality, Durable, Optical performance
  • Cons: No Aperture Marks, Ois Can Soften Images
