Avoid this lens if you want sharp images

Rock Runner, B&H Photo
5 July 2012
  • Excerpt: I bought this lens from B&H about 2 years ago for medium telephoto shots on treks and backpacking; its light weight was a sales point given that I'd be carrying it for long miles. Canon shot a blank

Jimmy C., Newegg
28 August 2009
  • Summary: I have always shot Nikon and never had a lens go bad. So much for my high expectations of Canon.
  • Pros: Excellent picture quality. At least for the first month.
  • Cons: Seems a bit poorly built compared to my previous experience with Nikon lenses. Lasted a whopping 32 days before the image stabilzer went faulty.

Horrid!

Jon Black, Ritz Camera
3 August 2009
  • Excerpt: I bought this lens about 8 months ago. I was low on cash but wanted a lens with a focal length in the 100~300mm range. I opted for this one. I assumed that it would be an extension on my 18-55mm kit lens that came with my Rebel XSi. I have been sorely disappointed.

Roman, B&H Photo

  • Summary: the lens i got is actually a part of kit lens which came with some 1200D camera [the seller taken out this lens from a 1200D kit lens pack, repackaged it as a single product and shipped it). The warranty was ,thus, not original. Guys, i wouldnt suggest anyone to buy this.

Anisha Khatun, flipkart.com
14 February 2015
  • Summary: I ordered my lens in october 2014 and I received a faulty lens. I didn't realize it at first that it was faulty lens, so I went to canon service center to get a replacement. So beware and check thoroughly.
