The Most Versatile Lens for Canon APS-C

RGomezPhotos, B&H Photo
26 September 2014
  • Excerpt: This is the lens I use for client or personal use and I only want to bring my APS-C Canon 50D. An older camera for sure. But also regarded as the last true pro-am X0D cameras. For possibly any APS-C Canon cameras, this can be a lens you can use for many occasions. Two things I like most about this lens: Color IQ and focal length range. Images are clean and vibrant. I can use this lens in a pinch for any paid client work.
  • Pros: Consistent Output, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight, Versatile
  • Cons: Lens Creep

Great lens

Grande Ande, B&H Photo
13 September 2014
  • Excerpt: I am a high school photography teacher and yearbook adviser, so I take over 40,000 photos a year. I use this lens with my 70D. I was hesitant to buy it because I thought the image quality would suffer with such a wide variable range 18mm-200mm. I was wrong. I love the quality at all focal lengths. Yes the lens is heavy, but I don't care. It beats having to remove and change lens when I don't have time. My new favorite lens for any situation.

superb value , maximum coverage

  • Conclusion: My first DSLR was the Canon kit which included the 60D w/ the 18-200 Lens. I still own the lens, but not the camera. I've read all of the reviews, and would like to say that the cons on this lens are not a big deal, and easy to live with, considering what this lens does, especially for the money!! And YES, if you take care of your things, it makes all the difference in the world. This lens may not take the abuse that other more expensive lenses do.
  • Pros: Fast auto-focus, Superior build quality, Super-sharp images

Great walk around lens

Rockin Bob, B&H Photo

  • Excerpt: I purchased this lens to go with my new Canon 70D camera. I have a number of other lenses like the 24-105 and the 28-135. I wanted this new lens to give me more reach than a 135 could provide. So far I am impressed with this lens and I recommend as a good walk around lens.

Great general purpose lens

Doug A, Canon

  • Conclusion: I bought this lens in Oct, 2008 to replace the Canon 28-135. I like the longer focal length so I do not have to change lenses. Less chance of getting dust on the sensor. After 5 1/2 yrs of using it, I have had no problems to speak of. Barrel is still very tight, very very few specks of dust in the lens. I and my wife travel extensively and the lens is always used. Auto focus is as fast as with the lens with the USM.
  • Pros: Fast auto-focus, Super-sharp images
