Great "all-purpose" lens

Excerpt: I bought this lens as a gift for my husband who is just starting out in photography. The range is great for someone who doesn't want to have to switch lenses often. The auto-focus is fast and reliable.
Pros: Easily Interchangeable, Fast / accurate auto-focus
Summary: This is the second "white box" Canon lens I've purchased. It was about half the cost of other places I checked out. I bought it as an "all-around" lens, to replace the EF film 28-200 lens I dropped & broke. I had read that it's kind of heavy, and it is -- but -- it's not a deal-breaker.
Excerpt: I have used this lens for about 6 months as my walk-around. Images are sharp with good bokeh. Auto focus is quiet and accurate. I use back button focusing which I find is more accurate with my 7d. The only complaint is lens creep which keeps this review from 5 stars
Pros: Consistent Output, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Good Walkaround lens, Nice Bokeh
Excerpt: Great overall lens, allows me to take only one lens. Pictures look great.
Pros: Great overall lens, allows me to take only one lens. Pictures look great.
Cons: Only annoyance is that the lens "trails out" when hanging by the neck strap. Seems like that could have been engineered out. Its also a bit heavy but if you were too concerned about that you would be using a pocket camera instead of a DSLR, right?
