Summary: My wife had been looking for a better lens at an affordable price, this is it! When she would take pictures with the stock lens 5 out of 10 pics would be blurry. With this lens 1 out of 10, great for the beginner photographer.
Summary: In shooting at a renaissance festival there are two types of photographers. Those that snipe from long distance and tend to take only face shots and those of us that like to get up close and personal. I love to do the latter! This is a fabulous lens for the up close and personal shooting! It is wide angle enough to get good group shots and has enough zoom to get great medium range shots and in a crowded environment ye dinna need much more.
Conclusion: I read many reviews before I wrote this to try and figure out what I should say. First of all my pictures were slightly fuzzy and the focus was slow... Um hello self, have you checked your cameras settings? No? Maybe you should. Now that I have checked them, the fuzzy shots with lots of graininess are completely gone.
Pros: Fast auto-focus, Superior build quality, Super-sharp images
Summary: This lens is just right for my needs and comes with a great price. It's a "white-box" product but don't let that discourage you or make you apprehensive about buying. It's never been used and is in perfect condition. Due to me needing the product within a week, I paid a little extra for expedited shipping. The store sent it the same day and I got in in two days. Very impressive service!
Summary: I recently upgraded from my old xSi to a 60D. This was very self-indulgent of me because I already own a Sony A77 with the f/2.8 lens which is an awesome combination, but I already had some Canon lenses and wanted to bring the 60D home to keep them company. I was planning on using my Sigma 18-125mm (which I also reviewed) but the 5 year old Sigma's stabilizer broke shortly after I got the new camera and I thought, "oh boy now I get to buy a new lens!".
Summary: OK, that may be a bit overboard, but I finally have one lens that can do what I need in ~90% of the situations where I want to take a picture. I now have a single lens that I can take with me and feel confident I can get a shot I'll be happy with, without having to tote around my whole camera bag. Don't get me wrong, I still love and have uses for my ultra-wide 11-16mm Tokina, my 50mm prime 1.8 Canon, and my 55-250mm with IS Canon.
Summary: Great used lens. Manual focus ring is a little loose but I can still focus manually and it doesn't effect picture quality. Auto fucus works just fine. At $219.00 for this used lens, who's complaing. Not me. Great value from eBay.
