Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM

PC Magazine
17 September 2012
  • Conclusion: The EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM is the best zoom you can get for shooting video with the EOS Rebel T4i, but it's not quite as sharp as its non-STM sibling.
  • Pros: Silent motor. Smooth video focus with T4i. Optically stabilized.
  • Cons: Some distortion. Not quite as sharp as non-STM version of lens.

Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM Lens

The Digital Picture
3 July 2012
  • Excerpt: The Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM Lens is a significant upgrade from the standard-at-review-time 18-55mm IS kit lens . It is an upgrade in many ways, but the 18-135's most attractive features are a wide (7.5x) focal length range , a relatively light weight & small package, a good IS (Image Stabilization) implementation and a low price (a great value in a DSLR kit – medium price otherwise).

Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 STM IS - Review / Test Report

photozone.de
2 November 2012
  • Conclusion: The Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 STM IS is a pretty obvious choice for those users seeking for a long universal range while keeping a very decent image quality. The new optical design with a large diameter UD element in the front lens group obviously makes a difference compared to its predecessor. The lens is generally capable of keeping a very high center to corner resolution. There's only a slight drop in quality at 135mm at max. aperture.

Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM Lens

PhotoReview
23 July 2012
  • Summary: Slightly larger than its predecessor (which we reviewed in November,2009), the new EF-S 18-135mm f3.5-5.6 IS STM lens has been developed to match the EOS 650D and offers features to complement the camera's movie capabilities.  A new STM (stepping-motor) system provides smooth, quiet auto focusing and is especially valuable for minimising pick-up of camera operating sounds while shooting movie clips.
  • Pros: You want a general purpose lens for everyday shooting and it's offered with the EOS 650D body., You'd like a lens that requires no readjustment when you fit polarisers and graduated filters. Don't buy this lens if :, You require high resolution at all focal lengths, along with good flatness of field., You need close focusing and macro capabilities. Buy this lens if :, You want a general purpose lens for everyday shooting and it's offered with the EOS 650D body., You'd...
