You get what you pay for

Ash, B&H Photo
5 June 2013
  • Excerpt: I got this lens to use for sporting events that I can't get as close to as I would like to be. It doesn't focus very well when you fully extend the lens. For the money...
  • Pros: Lightweight
  • Cons: Not Functional

Very soft pictures at all ranges 75-300.

  • Excerpt: Not the best lens for the price. The 55-250 is a much sharper lens.
  • Pros: Easily Interchangeable, Lightweight
  • Cons: Blurry Focus, Poor in Low Light, Slow Focus

GOOD STARTER FOR NEWBEE

Two Jinn, B&H Photo
28 February 2011
  • Excerpt: Cheap starter telephoto for novice. Not a great lens by any means, but good telephoto to learn the "how to" of longer lenses. Eventually move up to a 1-2 grand lens when you have more experience and money.
  • Pros: Durable

Big Names are Not Always Better

JohnnyD, B&H Photo
25 January 2011
  • Excerpt: This lens was to be used for birding. With maximum extension photos were blurry. Even with a tripod and remote shutter firing all photos at taken at max distance were very blurry. I tried manual settings and everything in between. NO GOOD!
  • Pros: Easily Interchangeable, Lightweight
  • Cons: Blurry Focus, Poor in Low Light

Not What I Expected

Walmart
20 June 2010
  • Summary: I was looking for a lens that would allow me to zoom in but this was not the one. Sadly disappointed with the quality of this lens, but you get what you pay for it seems. Pictures were not as sharp as I had hoped for.

So-So

AJ, B&H Photo
3 May 2010
  • Excerpt: This lens is a case of getting what you pay for. Terrible chromatic aberration on any shots with high contrast and distortion at both ends. If you are just out for snapshots or to get that "ohh ahh" factor for having a 300mm reach this is a decent lens. But if you want good, quality shots, move on to something a little better.
  • Pros: Durable
  • Cons: Chromatic aberration, Lens Creep, Slow Focus
