Excerpt: I bought this lens to take photos of my son, who is 2 and a half playing soccer. So far I am extremely happy with the quality of the glass, the reach, and the images it produces. I have heard that this lens may not be the best for low light use, but I have no experience within it in that area yet, and that was expected.
Pros: Durable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Nice Bokeh
Excerpt: This is an excellent lens. Although, the lens does not have IS, if you use a fast shutter speed the images are sharp and excellent. The AF is very fast and accurate. The lens is very well built and the price is fantastic. I am also very happy with the way B&H handled the sale.
Pros: Consistent Output, Durable, Easily Interchangeable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight, Nice Bokeh, Price, Rugged, Strong Construction
Excerpt: Was looking for a fixed aperture lens of good quality, this is the lens! Light enough to take with you and sturdy enough to withstand rugged use. The f/4 is great for well lit areas, however if using indoors make sure it's well lit.
Excerpt: This is a great lens, But before you buy it you should know just how you plan to use it remember this is an F4, not a fast lens, so it will be difficult to use in low light. If your shaky like me you may find yourself mounting it to a tripod most of the time. If you don't like shooting on a tripod you might consider faster F2.8 or the IS version. If you want quality photo's This lens is for you.
Pros: Consistent Output, Durable, Easily Interchangeable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight, Nice Bokeh, Rugged, Strong Construction
Excerpt: After much consideration and speaking with the experts at B&H I made the correct choice. I shoot game footage for the Long Island Rough Riders Soccer team and missing the action isn't an option. This lens does the job and gives me the peace of mind needed to produce professional images. Fast and quiet best describe the performance of this lens. If you're worried about the lens not being an IS (image stabilization), don't. Is it the best lens for extreme low light, no.
