Excerpt: I am using a DSLR camera for 10 years now. Although I've always been very dedicated in my hobby, for some reason I always felt like an amateur. My photos were just missing something - they lacked that tacky sharpness that is typical for professional photos. But then, I got my hand on this lens. It's the first L lens I've owned and I took it for an afternoon and shot photos of my son, running through the shore on the beach.
Conclusion: Several months ago, I took two bags of lenses that I have, including several "L" lenses, and I ran them through my own tests to see which was the sharpest and second sharpest, etc. This was after a friend of mine, who does professional photo work, had a picture of herself taken with this lens and it was so sharp, it was almost too sharp. By far, this lens came out the winner! I now have a new respect for this lens.
Pros: Fast auto-focus, Superior build quality, Super-sharp images
Conclusion: I purchased this lens for my 700D after reading multiple reviews and researching various lenses. This is my first L lens and I am very pleased with the pictures and the way the lens handles. For me, it is the perfect balance of quality (great glass and solid build), practicality (lightweight and ergonomic), and cost (especially with a rebate). I primarily shoot outdoor sports/action and have also taken some great indoor action pictures--yes, handheld without IS.
Pros: Fast auto-focus, Superior build quality, Super-sharp images, great value, lightweight
