Almost perfect "walk-around" lens unlike its f/2

Summary: Almost perfect "walk-around" lens unlike its f/2.8 big brother. I use it with a 24-105mm f/4 IS lens when out and about and I have coverage for almost any "normal" focal range. Tack sharp in almost in any lighting from daybreak to sunset. Gets my highest recommendation.
Excerpt: I use this lens mostly for moon, wildlife, birds, deer and such, some landscape. It is good for portraits if outdoors. It has a fast focus. I have had this lens for only 6 months or so and I am still happy with it. I hope to upgrade to a 300mm L IS soon.
Excerpt: ts amaizing lens.
The sharpness, the color and the contras is absolotaly amaizing.
Like all the ohter L lenses its amaizing and super sharp it as sharp as the 70-200mm f2.8 is ii cheaper and the weight is low yes the bokeh isnt as blur as the 2.8 ii but its blur believe to me.
Excerpt: Really went back and forth between this lens and its big brother, the f2.8. This lens is significantly lighter, and I mainly use it to shoot wildlife--mainly birds-- so the setting I most often use is f4 or higher anyway. Therefore, this was my choice, and I'm very pleased.
Summary: I was thinking of getting the 2.8 II but went with this. I used it first time today in an indoor event and I was thoroughly impressed. pros: - light weight - rich colours - fast focus - IS works - cheaper I was shooting quite far away and F4 is very shallow already.
Excerpt: I have been the 70-200/4 L IS since it was introduced in 2007 and this is my second one after the previous one was given to a relative as a Christmas gift. The pictures from both units are consistently sharp indoors or outside and the constant f/4 aperture makes it easy to satisfy clients and family...
Pros: Consistent Output, Durable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Strong Construction
Excerpt: I just purchased this lens to add to my landscape photography equipment. This lens is very impressive in its build qaulity, very sharp focus, and lightweight (vs its f/2.8 bigger brother). :-)
