Excerpt: Love this lens, it is my first L series and what a difference from kit lenses. I'm a novice and wanted a good lens for my nature photography . Excellent lens for me not to heavy ,very good image stabilizer ,my pictures are so clear , excellent in clarity , super sharp images with all apertures.
Pros: Durable, Easily Interchangeable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Strong Construction
Excerpt: This is the best L series lens that I own. The pictures are very sharp with wide open aperture. I mainly got this lens for my landscape photography but the IS was very handy at a recent wedding event. It does make a cranky noise from time to time and the autofocus is noticeably slower than its big brother f/2.8. I don't own f/2.8 I just happened to shot few shots at the store and noticed the enormous weight.
Excerpt: After searching for a good quality lens over a months, i came across this lens. The build quality of the lens is amazing. I started taking pictures to evaluate the performance and to my surprise, this lens met my expectation. Perhaps, IS and USM is the main driving factor for stable images.
Excerpt: I rented the newer IS II lens a while back for filming a church retreat. It was so big and cumbersome that I just could not 'run n gun' with it at all. This lens is another beast all it's own - lightweight, sharp as a tack focus, FAST focus, great clarity, beautiful DOF - it's just perfect for what I do, which is video production. I have done one interview with this lens, and I'll just say that it is a world of difference in the look I am getting. Just terrific.
Pros: Durable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight, Nice Bokeh, Rugged
Excerpt: Picture quality with a 70-200 is much better than the 18-135 kit lens which came with my 70D. The disadvantages are the length and weight of the lens. Also occasionally the auto focus feels a bit slower than the 18-135. That being said, considering the alternatives, the 70-200 F4 IS lens is a great product with reasonable price and I strongly recommend it.
Pros: Consistent Output, Durable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Nice Bokeh, Strong Construction
Excerpt: I have used this lens for a few days now. Shot a bicycle event in very harsh sunlight, sunset sailboat races and twilight conditions . Surprising quality at such light weight. Very sharp at all apertures. Great contrast and color. I didn't have a lens hood on in some backlit and sidelit situations and had minimal lens flare. I used auto focus on tracking mode for a while and it worked well.
Pros: Fast / accurate auto-focus, Good Color Contrast, Lightweight, Nice Bokeh, Nice Feel To Focus-zoom, Very Sharp
Summary: Unable to get the automatic focus on this lens to work with my Canon D6 camera body. Have managed to get a few semi-decent photos using manual focus. But they are not sharp and bright. Everything I read about this lens before purchasing it told of how great the picture quality is but I have not found that to be so. Maybe the lens is defective? Have gone back to using my trusty 24-70 Canon lens so still do not have a fast zoom lens for distant shots.
