First L lens - fell in love
Conclusion: I am writing this partly in response to the previous reviewer (October 2013), who didn't like it, and couldn't use it to take sports shots - claiming it doesn't autofocus well, and he'd rather get a longer lens or one with IS. The latter comment is telling - IS has no effect on fast moving action! The shots I have of humpback whales breaching off Tasmania would suggest a 10% keeper rate is due to "operator error" - one shot doesn't work so well on horses.
Excerpt: This lens has made it's cost back many times over. It is the qunitisential sports lens and isn't too shabby for other work providing you keep your shutter speed high. Fast focus, smooth zoom, durable body and sharp sharp lens. Easily my current favorite lens.
Pros: Consistent Output, Durable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Nice Bokeh, Rugged, Strong Construction
Excerpt: i recently bought the Canon EF 70 - 200 MM F/2.8L lens for my wife. She loves it. She take a lot shots during sporting events and the lens is perfect for it. The pictures look sharp an clear.

I got the lens used form Adorama but it doesn't look used at all. I couldn't find a single blemish on the lens or the glass.
Pros: Consistent Output, Durable, Easily Interchangeable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight, Nice Bokeh, Rugged, Strong Construction
Excerpt: I use this lens exclusivly for portrait work and it really makes it easy. The images are sharp and clear. The 70-200 range helps me compose shots in camera without being in the clients personal space.
Pros: Consistent Output, Durable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Rugged, Sharpclear Images, Strong Construction
Excerpt: I have just used this lens once but I am blown away at the bokeh. And how the images are so clear and crisp. The weight is not that bad but I am not shooting for hours either. It is very well built. Did not notice that I need the IS but I was shooting at a fast shutter speed. I am usually shooting my kids and there are always fast moving.
