Must Have For Every Photographer

Masha, Amazon
  • Summary: A beast of a lens, both in terms of durability and function. Some favorite functions: wonderfully sharp and consistent auto-focus (and ease in manual focusing), very fast AF speed, beautiful bokeh at lowest aperture, all combine to make for the most professional shots you'll have with any lens.

Amazing Lens but to IS or not to IS? That is the question!

Ricardo A. Sevilla, Amazon
24 September 2010
  • Summary: I gathered all my non L lenses together and sold them off to purchase this lens. I must say, I am glad I did. After buying this lens I have not had the need to buy any other lens. It serves as my all purpose lens for portrait shoots, for landscapes, for sports...for anything.

coachboz, Amazon

  • Summary: I agonized over this one for a YEAR. I am not a professional photographer by trade, but have come to love it as my hobby. When I recently upgraded from a Rebel to my 7D, I felt it was time to take the plunge. Man oh man, am I glad I did! My daughter is in gymnastics and they perform in caves.

  • Summary: I am simply amazed at how sharp the pictures are in comparison to my other lens, yes my other lens are not top glass, but the contrast is quite startling. • Summary: Several months ago I finally decided to shell out the 1400.00 on this lens. Quite simply it is one of the best investments in photography that I have ever made. The lens is outstanding, both in build quality and performance.
  • Pros: Everything
  • Cons: Costly, but I don't believe overly expensive. this is one good piece of glass.

Professional Lens with superior quality construction and pictures

Amazon Customer "Bruce The Pilot", Amazon
2 June 2009
  • Summary: I received this lens as a birthday present a little over 2 months. I am using it with a Canon Rebel XTi and mono/tripod. I have used it in a multitude of conditions; outside, inside, natural lighting, fluorescent, fast paced action and close-ups. Picture quality, even at the edges, is superb.

Great lens for both indoor and outdoor photography

Conor P. Cahill, Amazon
3 March 2009
  • Summary: I bought the lens as part of a paired replacement from my EF35-350 lens and am very, very happy with it. I've currently used it mostly for indoor flash-less sports photography and it's been great. Nice high speed still photos that capture fast action cleanly and crisply.

Photography Review
9 February 2009
  • Summary: After months of deliberation I sold my Canon 70-200mm f4 L lens and bought the f2.8 IS version. After using the f2.8 IS version for a few weeks I'm very impressed. The difference between this lens and the f4 L is massive.
  • Pros: Image Quality, Build Quality, Extremely Sharp, Image Stabilizer is superb
  • Cons: Maybe Price - But you get what you pay for!
