Excerpt: I have the 70-200 4.0 and have wanted to purchase this lens for a long time. It is quite a bit heavier. It is a beautiful lens. I love the sharpness I can achieve with this lens. Used at two events in the short time I have had it. The one downfall is that I cannot attach this lens with my Canon Mark 111 and also carry same camera with my 24-70. It is just too much for me because I am a shorter person.
Excerpt: I'm an amateur photographer that takes pictures for a local high school athletic department football games, baseball and volleyball. This lens works great capturing great clarity in a low light situation when you need a quick shutter. Only thing that keeps from a 5 star rating is weight....a little heavy.
Excerpt: I've rented everyone version of this lens including other manufacturers and have been let down with everything but the real deal. I need this lens for dark indoor events & concerts primarily so the IS is a huge help and the sharp focus. That's where the other lenses tend to fail me. I also use it to compress backgrounds for portraits.

It's worth the money if you know you'll use it.
Pros: Autofocus In Low Light, Improves Performance, Quality Construction, Sharp
Excerpt: Normally I read the reviews of previous buyers to give me an idea of how satisfied they are with the product before I buy, this time it was very hard to decide me because most of the comments that I read classified it as excellent with an exception of a negative comments, however I decided to buy the lens and I am more than satisfied with the product, excellent piece of glass, fast focus, super-sharp image, easy to control, really all I expected and maybe...
Excerpt: The lens is a beast in terms of size, weight, build quality. But the sharpness and overall utility is great. Definitely not a "walking around" lens and I have only used it briefly since I got it a couple of weeks ago but I can see there will be many opportunities to use this tool.
Pros: Fast Focus, Improves Performance, Quality Construction, Sharp
Excerpt: I am a photo enthusiast and future professional photographer. I wanted this lens for YEARS! I purchased it and can't believe how heavy it is. I need to lift weights before a day of shooting with it. A tripod is a must have - especially for older photographers like me. Wonderful, sharp pictures, nice lens....just really heavy.
Excerpt: This lens is excellent except for the weight. The color rendering is amazing. I found it is bit softer than my 24-105 L lens but comparing on f4 and up, both are almost same. On my copy, focusing is bit noisy and I found the Image stabilization is OK but not perfect even on tripod! The price is attractive after the rebate and reward otherwise I don't think so. When considering the new technology and market, I will give 4 stars for this lens.
Excerpt: Bougth a copy, got inconsistent focus. I tested heavily but even with a dumbed down shooting (tripod, auto AF point selection etc.), couldn't get consistent autofocus. Microadjust would fix the problem until moving to another shoot with different conditions. I decided I couldn't deal with this and returned the lens. B&H made no problem to do so, thank you. Bought another copy from [*](to get it faster) and have similar issue although much less pronounced.
Pros: Easy To Use, Quality Construction, Stunning Image Quality
