Excerpt: It is new so of course it is my favorite lens. Maybe over time that will change. I must admit that I have not used it much. (Don't you hate when people write early reviews without using the product enough). I upgraded from the f/4 to this lens. I am using it on the original Canon 7D. Here is what I have found so far. The speed is much faster. It doesn't hunt like the f/4, even in lower light. The pictures are a tad sharper.
Pros: Easy To Use, Improves Performance, Quality Construction
Excerpt: The 2.8 aperture doesn't keep when you are focusing on something that is a lot further away. Also I do concert photos and I would have liked this lens to have more zoom. I am a woman with more arm muscle than most but this lens is sooo heavy when added to the camera that after shooting for more than 30 minutes it strains my muscle a lot. I wish that the aperture could get bigger than 2.8 for that price. Other than that..
Excerpt: This was my first L series lens purchase after having rented for a week. I am still getting used to the weight and getting to know the lens but love its capability for creating creamy backgrounds.
Excerpt: I have the 70-200 4.0 and have wanted to purchase this lens for a long time. It is quite a bit heavier. It is a beautiful lens. I love the sharpness I can achieve with this lens. Used at two events in the short time I have had it. The one downfall is that I cannot attach this lens with my Canon Mark 111 and also carry same camera with my 24-70. It is just too much for me because I am a shorter person.
Excerpt: I'm an amateur photographer that takes pictures for a local high school athletic department football games, baseball and volleyball. This lens works great capturing great clarity in a low light situation when you need a quick shutter. Only thing that keeps from a 5 star rating is weight....a little heavy.
Excerpt: I've rented everyone version of this lens including other manufacturers and have been let down with everything but the real deal. I need this lens for dark indoor events & concerts primarily so the IS is a huge help and the sharp focus. That's where the other lenses tend to fail me. I also use it to compress backgrounds for portraits. It's worth the money if you know you'll use it.
Pros: Autofocus In Low Light, Improves Performance, Quality Construction, Sharp
Excerpt: Normally I read the reviews of previous buyers to give me an idea of how satisfied they are with the product before I buy, this time it was very hard to decide me because most of the comments that I read classified it as excellent with an exception of a negative comments, however I decided to buy the lens and I am more than satisfied with the product, excellent piece of glass, fast focus, super-sharp image, easy to control, really all I expected and maybe more, I...
