Summary: Why do they have a $20,000+ list price in the ad? Totally false advertisement as buying it from Canon USA directly it goes for $9100 (list price). Disappointed in Amazon on this deal trying to make $9800 seem like a good deal.
Summary: Well constructed, but a little on the heavy side. Sharp images, fairly fast for a super tele. Like the full time manual focus capability along with the autofocus. Has improved my wildlife photo chances.
Sharp as you could have it and worth every $ you save for it!

Summary: Have had this lens for almost 6 months now! FANTASTIC is an understatement. Its a big heavy lens , cant expect it any other way without compromising build quality! I have used it mainly for Wildlife and the results have made me go on safari's more over the last 6 months than I have for 3 years!
Summary: I've owned this lens for most of a year now, and I am completely satisfied with it. Downsides - it's heavy at almost 12 pounds, and it costs half as much as a small car. It's like adopting a 12 pound child - if you're on a photo shoot, you have to take it everywhere.
Summary: The good news is that this lens is capable of producing some very sharp, quality images. The bad news is that it depends on your copy (thus 4 stars instead of 5). Don't necessarily believe those who tell you that you have "bad technique".
Summary: Increditable images. Forget the 600mm's, the images from this lens are very impressive, better than my other two Canon L lens - the f/2.8, 28-70mm zoom and the f/4, 300mm. Before getting this lens in my hands, I thought I would be able to handhold shots using image stabilization.
Summary: Canon's 600mm F4 IS super telephoto lens is the ultimate tool for sports and wildlife photography. A quiet micro ultrasonic motor powers the world's fastest autofocus that gives the user the option of manual override, recalling a preset focus position or limiting focus distance to prevent hunting...
Summary: Do consider the fact that I have been a Canon contract photographer since 1995. But know that my comments above are totally honest and unbiased.
Pros: The world's premiere super telephoto lens. Delivers sharp images with 1.4X, 2X and even stacked TCs. Have made sharp images at 1200mm at 1/45th second and at 1/125 second with two 2x TCS! Focuses fast enough with 2X to photograph large birds in flight.
Cons: Most units do not rotate smoothly in the tripod collar when the lens is mounted.
