Outstanding value for a tack sharp lens across a wide range of stops.
16 April 2015
Summary: used every day in our professional studio for commercial photography. Price is excellent. Image quality is tack sharp across a wider stop range than the Sigma 50mm macro. The Sigma goes 1:1 and is also tack sharp but not across as wide a stop range.
Summary: This is an ideal lens for my need and by my standards. My need is for a walk-around lens with macro capability and excellent optics. My standards are impeccable handling characteristics, obvious structural strength, proven durability and absolute precision.
Excerpt: I love this lens because its short and compact. Theres no image stabilization, but for me IS is only needed when going less than a 1: 2 lifesize ratio. I can tell no difference in picture quality between this lens and the 100mm macro L lens at 1: 2 lifesize ratio.
Excerpt: I bought this lens to specifically shoot food photography and I couldn't be happier! Fantastic sharpness with lots of pretty bokeh. Took it for a spin outside for some landscapes and was impressed there too! This lens is versatile and perfect for my needs!
Summary: I use this lens professionally everyday. It is a great lens. Light, fast, and the image quality it produces is on par with much more expensive glass. I was not surprised by that as it comes highly recommended from many of my peers but I think I was not sure it would be as good as it is.
Summary: One of the first questions that came to mind was if this lens could be used professionally. The answer is yes. Optics is more than good enough for working photographers. If you don't believe me, go to Ken Rockwell's photography website and read up on this lens.
