It's just OK

Lewis D Ford, Amazon
22 June 2012
  • Summary: I originally bought this lens because a 35mm is the closest you can get to a 50mm full frame equivalent on a Cannon Rebel T3i. I mainly use my camera for portrait work. I also have a Cannon EF50 F/1.4 USM and I have to say that I still like shooting with the 50mm better. The lens is noisier, colors don't seem as bright, distortion is higher, and auto focus is slower. It just seems over-priced for what it is.

Good but not as good as 50mm f1.8

Harry M. Joseph "jasper", Amazon
28 May 2007
  • Summary: I bought this lens thinking I could match, or surpass the sharpness resolution and contrast range that I get with my 50mm 1.8. Unfortunately I was not as surprised with this lens as I was with the $80.00 50mm. Although this lens is extremely sharp, it is by no means sharper than the 50mm. What really dissapointed me is the contrast. Using my canon 30D, I had to turn up the contrast a few notches just so my pictures would not come out with that pastel look.

Extreme purple fringing

Mr. Dc Potter "DaveP", Amazon
14 April 2013
  • Summary: I bought this lens as I wanted a good quality, cheap standard length lens on a 550d. First impressions were really good, compared to other canons of similar price the build quality is good, focus is fast, sharp and accurate and colours etc were lovely. My problem came when I expected my first set of images' every sharp edge against a light background (as in sky!) had really bad purple fringing at f2 which didn't go away until f4.

Great quality, colours are great, but very noisy auto-focus!

Ellelouise Photography, Amazon
5 April 2013
  • Summary: Pros - Very light-weight - Top sharpness - Colours are enhanced beautifully - Has a very clean look to photos - This would be a lens I would keep on my camera for days out and holidays Cons - Auto-focus is extremely loud & noisy, it makes me cringe every time because the sound is horrible - Feels a bit cheap to touch - Wouldn't say the price is good value in regards to the above point I have added the picture of the red car bonnet, I think it's a good example of both the...

Not for me

Chippy Minton, Amazon
10 February 2013
  • Summary: Married up with a 60D and you have a compact system with great potential, however I was left underwhelmed unfortunately. Undoubtedly a great lens, but I wasn't happy with the colours (compared to my nifty fifty or Sigma 17-70 f/2.8) and the AF is a tad noisy. Going to save up for a 50mm f/1.4 ....

Useful lens, but bad purple/green fringing

Sarah Louise Hodkinson, Amazon
21 March 2012
  • Summary: The 35mm focal length and wide aperture make this lens ideal for everyday shooting on my Canon 550D, and I have got some nice pictures from it. It's also really small and light, so I'm able to carry my camera virtually everywhere I go, which is a definite advantage. However, the chromatic aberration is quite bad - purple/green fringing on SO many of my images! Perhaps I'm expecting too much from a cheap lens... Anyway, don't say you haven't been warned!

Das 50mm für APS-C Sensoren

space_dog, Amazon
4 November 2013
  • Summary: Ich wollte diese 35mm, weil mir die 50mm an meiner Canon EOS 450D manchmal doch etwas zu lang wurden (Crop 1.6 = 80mm). 30mm kämen da eigendlich näher ran, die 35mm werden an einer Crop-Kamera wie meiner zu 56mm, 30mm zu ca 48mm.

MrNicevillager, Amazon
12 October 2013
  • Summary: Die grundsätzliche Verarbeitungsqualität von diesem Ojektiv lässt keine Wünsche offen.
