Adorama

  • Excerpt: I primarily am using this lens with a 5D III and a 7D II for soccer games. The focus is fast and accurate and the build is superb. It's heavy but not too heavy to hand hold. The photos are tack sharp and the colors are gorgeous. The price is steep but the results are worth every penny.

Great mid range lens

Fish, B&H Photo
15 December 2014
  • Excerpt: I bought this lens to shoot college basketball games and allow myself to capture the other end of the court. This lens with the 70-200 2.8 allows me to capture the game completely. Plus did I mention it's tack sharp!

Stupid lens cover

Love Photography, Adorama
22 November 2014
  • Excerpt: The photographs this lens takes, at least coupled with my 6D are crazy good. Just amazing. And, it works extremely well with the 2X teleconvertor III. Really, really great. With the 2X TC I can literally see the screws in the roof security cameras of a 10 story building nearly a half mile away.
  • Pros: F28 Fast, Image quality, Nice Bokeh
  • Cons: Lens Cover, Luggage, Not a Zoom, Price

AMAZING LENS!

SkimtheRail, Canon
22 November 2014
  • Conclusion: I am a Sports Photographer specializing in Horse Racing. I need a lens that delivers crisp, sharp images and this lens does the job! I use a 5D Mark iii with this lens. I am petite size female, and amazingly I can use this lens hand-held without a tripod.

20 November 2014
  • Excerpt: My focus is on a specific question: how does it perform with the Canon Extender EF 2x III as a 600mm f5.6 lightweight, handheld bird and wildlife photography lens? We all know this lens is one of the best lenses ever made by Canon….
  • Pros: Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight, Nice Bokeh, Rugged, Strong Construction
  • Cons: Expensive - Relatively

Canon EF 300mm f2.8 IS II

Peak Image Photographer, B&H Photo
20 November 2014
  • Excerpt: I had been renting a 300mm previous generation. I was surprised at how lightweight this new version was once I got it. Shot some high school football outside on a monopod and then took it inside a week later to shoot some hand-held volleyball.
  • Pros: Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight
