Summary: My husband and I wanted to get a len that can be used when we upgrade our current camera in the near future. I have many friends who are good at pic shooting recommending this same len to use. Very nice work after We tried it, definitely love this purchase!
Conclusion: Bought this lens to use with EOS 6D. Couldn't be happier. IS and max F/4 aperture keeps less experienced photographers out of trouble. Image quality is first rate. Reasonably light, great vacation lens. Had this lens for a year now, use it as the main lens for my 6D.
Excerpt: Nice lens, a bit sharper than my 70-200mm f/2.8 (not II) at 70mm. Good carry lens, with less distortion/vignetting than the 24-105 but with arguably a shorter range in exchange. For me a perfect size/weight for carrying on the 6D as an all-purpose lens.
Excerpt: This is my first "L" lens from Canon. I was looking at this and the f/2.8 24-70mm lens for quite some time. After careful review of my photographic style I decided the f/4 24-70 IS would be a better fit for me, not to mention the cost savings. I am completely happy so far. Yes, another stop would be nice but that is the only real benefit that I could see with the f/2.8 lens. I find this lens to be very sharp and it has very good color rendition.
Pros: Fast / accurate auto-focus, Nice Bokeh, Rugged
Excerpt: It's the travel, general purpose lens I've been waiting for. When I received the lens I tested it extensively. Very sharp lens. A little heavy but then again it is a professional lens. I didn't need the f 2.8 or the weight and expense of it's big brother. Altogether I'm very satisfied. The rebate didn't hurt either.
Pros: Consistent Output, Durable, Easily Interchangeable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Rugged, Strong Construction
Excerpt: What a sleeper. This lens is excellent. Very, very sharp...no vignetting, light weight easy to hold. But what really surprised me is the almost no distortion at 24mm. Even at f4 it focuses quite fast. I must tell this is a great lens and would highly recommend it.
Excerpt: I really love this lens. I got it to replace my 24-70 f/2.8 L (classic) and it has better IQ than the 2.8 lens. But what I really like is that way it transformed the handling of the 5D Mark III. The 2.8 just was a big chuck of glass on the 5D - it overwhelmed it. The f/4 IS balances on the 5D Mark III very nicely. It really makes a huge difference. And the IQ with this lens and the IS are great - much better than the 2.8 and the 24-105 f/4 IS is not in the same ballpark.
Pros: Consistent Output, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight
Excerpt: This is my first L series lens and I am using it on t4i, I did some kids photo shoot in Sunday pumpkin patch an I can tell I am blown away with the sharpness of this lens. The main reasons I picked this versus 24-105 f4 was its more compact lens, new IS technology, lighter and the most important part is sharper on the edges compare to 24-105. Price wise it's more expensive but canon has a good rebate on these now that makes the price more reasonable.
Pros: Consistent Output, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight, Nice Bokeh
