Excerpt: Great sharpness, superb IS, lightweight. Much more reasonably priced than the 2.8 version and higher quality than the Tamron. Distortion is well controlled. Macro mode is OK, but not something that is a big deal to me.
Pros: Durable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight, Rugged, Strong Construction
Excerpt: I replaced the 24-105 F4 IS L lens with this one and I am so glad that I did. If you have the 70-200 lens, this is the perfect compliment to it. Anything over 70mm I would rather use the 70-200 F2.8 II, so this fills the standard zoom range perfectly. Images are SHARP, much sharper than the 24-105. The color is amazing on my Canon 5D Mark III. This camera and lens combination feel just right. The images are great. The lens is light enough to carry around for the day.
Pros: Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight, Strong Construction
Excerpt: I highly recommend both the EOS 5D Mark III camera and the 24-70mm f/4L lens, not only for the kit value but for great design, high quality and capability. An amazing amount of thought was put into the design of this camera which includes high resolution, fast accurate focusing, and high shutter FPS. It feels very sturdy and the controls all seem to be well placed.
Pros: 3 Memory Settings, Easy To Use, Fast / Accurate Auto-Focus, Fast Shutter Speed, Good Image Stabilization, Great Image Qualitty, Has Quiet Shutter Setting, High ISO Performance, Large Clear LCD, Many Menu Options, Professional design, Sturdy
Excerpt: I use this lens for every day, walk around purposes. It is quite good for event photography and handles low light well on my 6D. It is part of a two/three lens combination that I typically take on shoots depending on the nature of the activity. While a 24-105 might be more versatile as a travel lens, I generally pair the 24-70 with my 70-300L and do not mind having to swap lenses. I like the pinch lens cap and find the included hood acceptable for most purposes.
Pros: Consistent Output, Durable, Easily Interchangeable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight, Strong Construction
Excerpt: This is my go-to lens. It's almost always on my 5DIII, except when I need a bit more reach. Replaced my 24-105 with this lens and love the IS (gotten sharp images up to 0.5 seconds handheld), great sharpness and color as you would expect from this lens and controlling the zoom range is less cramped than on the 24-105. I have not treated my lens well (cold, heat, dust, water,...) but it has been working without the slightest issue.
Pros: 77 Mm Thread, Consistent Output, Durable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight, Nice Bokeh, Rugged, Strong Construction
Conclusion: I wanted to buy a lens which I can leave on the camera most of the time and capture great images with. The standard zoom lens was missing in my collection as I shoot mostly with primes and a telephoto L zoom lens so I decided to do some research. After deciding that the 2.8ii would be too expensive and the 24-105 being too outdated I then proceeded to look at the 24-70 F4 IS.
Pros: Fast auto-focus, Superior build quality, excellent sharpness, useful macro mode
