This new lens does what many pros thought couldn’t be done - replace the previous L-series 28-70 f/2.8 lens with something even better. Extended coverage to an ultra-wide-angle 24mm makes it ideal …

This is an EF lens, illuminating an image circle large enough to cover a 24x36mm piece of film or the sensor in Canon's more expensive "full-frame" digital SLRs. The camera will work fine on a small-sensor body, but you will be carrying around more lens than you need and the focal length will be a "slighty-wide-to-portrait" range. Read more

Only one of the best lenses I've ever used! Just another example of why Canon is the best line of photographic equiptment on the market. This lens is very fast and of course with the Ultrasonic Motor, very quiet also. The pictures are always VERY sharp and the saturations are perfect! Alot of improvement over the 28-70L series lens. A little wider of an angle for the DSLR's with a 1.6x magnification and this lens is sealed better against dust. Read more
